I just had a full transmission overhaul...

New second and third gear, and matching synchro assemblies and synchro rings

Replaced all 8 plastic shift fork pads and shift rail stop with bronze pieces.

Redline MTL transmission fluid.

New Exedy Mach 500 Clutch.

It isn't a clutch issue, there is no grinding. It seems more like an adjustment issue. I have to use both hands to get it in there, and it is a fight.

Anyone experience this? Any suggestions?

Does the mt82 have the reverse lockout solenoid like the TR6060? If so, maybe it was not hooked up when the transmission was installed.

Trouble going into first or reverse usually has something to do with the slave cylinder. Does it go in easily with the motor off?

Slave cylinder is new as well. and no, it is just as hard.

I have a blowfish racing bracket on it. I looked, and the guy who rebuilt the tranny had it lower than it was, so I raised it up. I can get it in better, by it's still not smooth as before.

Once I get it in, I can move it in and out of reverse easily, as long as I don't move the shifter any laterally.

I had similar binding issues the first time I removed and reinstalled my trans. I had tried pushing it to one side a little to make room for exhaust but I ended up binding it. I fixed it by loosening the engine mounting bolts and the rear trans mount bolts. Only about 1.5 turns, still secured but loose. Then I got in the car, fired it up and alternately loaded it up in first and reverse a half dozen times with the parking brake on. This allowed the engine and trans to settle in to it's natural resting position. Retightened everything right there and my issues went away.

That's pretty nifty thinking right there.

I assume remaining at idle?

I revved it up a little, enough to use the engine torque to lift/move the drivetrain around a little. The whole idea is to load it enough that it moves to the position where it wants to go anyway.
