Well, I had a few issues with the motor and I'm waiting on a part. But in the mean time I got a little crazy and built a powder coating oven. Then most of the military hobby shops around the island had their sand blasters break, I ordered one and now I've been the the garage for the last few days non stop.

I coated the valve covers, tc cover, whipple water neck, and the whipple aluminum intake.

I also ordered Cerakote Chromex and just ceramic coated the headers. It is supposed to be good up to 1200 degrees. It sprays on green and dries whtie, then you have to scuff it up with steel wool to get the shine after you bake it for 1 hr at 600 degrees.

Today I am going to work on polishing them up. I tried a 10" buffing wheel with metal polish and it worked great on a small spot, now I just have to spend a few hours trying to get to the spots the wheel can't.

Yeah I built it, I couldn't afford to buy one. I found most of the data I needed from caswellplating.com, they have a forum and a oven building section. It wasn't hard at all, but I want to build a bigger one now.

Awsome build. Damn whats your career lol. U guys hiring..? haha

Brandon.

Thanks.

I am in the Navy (Submarines), and I think they are always hiring.... lol

I saved while going on a 7 month deployment and not spending any money. Not to mention I am not married and the mustang is my kid. I try to look for good deals and try to do as much as work on my own possible.

I got the major areas polished up on the headers, now to a smaller buffing wheel.

Then I finished putting the whipple back together after powdercoating the base plate.

honolulu Hi
I gotta say those pics don't do any justice. Especially the headers. Can't wait to see it all put back together. Then I might finally get off my ass and start working on mine again.

Damn, it seems like forever since I updated this thread.

One morning (summer 2010) when I started the car and let it idle while I was putting my boots on, the motor dropped an exhaust valve for who know what reason (found no issues with the assembly or materials). The car made a horrible noise and died. I tore the motor down to find it messed up the head, cam, and block. I sent it back and after 4+ months, I got another block back. Same setup Livernois 298 stroker, Livernois Stage 3 heads and Stage 3 blower cams. I installed the motor and it overheated and then I ended up getting busy for the next 2 1/2 years (work, buying a new house, another long deployment, and more work). :(

A few weeks ago, I finally got back to the car. It looked like a small amount of antifreeze in the oil and it ran like shit. Upon tear down I found it the block and heads needed to be resurfaced and milled. Probably a bad head gasket and the fact the block was a bit off from a completely flat surface. Now that the block and heads machining is complete, let the rebuild begin again.....

I got the motor put back together and back in the car. I had ordered a BMR K member and A arms about a year ago in hopes of working on it, and that didn't seem to happen. But I have to say the 7 Qt Moroso oil pan fits in so nice in the BMR instead of the stock K member.

I did figure since I had it in parts off, it was a good time to swap up the color theme and I had some nice blue that matches the Terminator Sonic Blue. I powder coated most of what I had off, but coating it took a few days since it was two coats and cleaning out the machine was not a quick process. I might do more later once I get the car running again.

The motor is about in and 3/4 ready to go. I have the exhaust, hoses, battery, intake, and a few other parts left and hopefully in a few days I can start it if I'm not at work most of the time.

Finally finished putting it all back together. I might need to adjust the tune a bit, but she started up a little rich and evened out after running for a few minutes.

Now on to the safety inspection and registration circus.

So it is safety checked and registered, and runs great. Now back to the other projects I was working on before, I welded up a new intake to get colder intake temps and then I got a bit carried away with the powder coating and had to move the fuel rails around since I had originally purchased the normal height ones instead of the short ones for the whipple. Aside from moving the ABS over farther and mounting the MAF, I'm almost done.

And I also got my Moroso covers in today, they look great.

Well, back to the drawing board..... I had a issue a while back and parked the car. I got deployed and lots of other fun work and a year later I finally looked at the car. I found a valve broken in 3 places and the retainer also broken.

I called Livernois to get replacement parts and they said to use the stock stuff except the spring. I ordered the spring with shipping to Hawaii that was 3 times the part....arg.

I then ordered a pile of stuff from ford to make sure I had what I needed once I took the spring off and replaced it. The stock stuff doesn't look even close to what Livernois had on the car.

So I guess I need to figure out if I need the livernois retainer, valve seal and keepers. I don't want to wait another week for the parts and a crazy shipping cost, but it seems as if thats what I will have to do.
