These are just a few pix of my car today after I went through my process of detailing.

Cleaned car with Chemical Guys Maxi Suds II

Blew it dry with a leaf blower

(Skipped the Ultimate Compound or M105 and Cyan Pad since it wasn't bad)

Maguires M205 with a Tangerine Pad on my Porter Cable 7424

Blackfire Wet Diamond Sealant with a blue fine finishing pad on the PC 7424

Difference between this and the black box. . . . The swirls, micro scratchs, holograms, etc. are gone not just covered up. So, if I wash and dry properly (see write up in my sig) it stays like this for a good while.

Looks great!

What brand of pads do you use with your PC?

I use Lake country pads.

I use the Hydrotech ones, though.

Cyan for heavy cutting with like Ultimate Compound or M105 polish

Tangerine for light polishing with M205

And I use the regular (not hydrotech) blue fine finishing pads for waxing and sealant application.

I just got one of the Hydrotech fine finishing pads but I haven't tried it yet.

The Hydrotech pads seem to use less product since they keep it at the surface instead of soaking it all in like regular pads seem to do. That's why I use them, btw

I need to get me a good porter cable and some product

It will change your life, lol

I try to stick to the pro line of Maguire's. I find the M105 and M205 to be the shit on a stick and all the polish you ever will need. Both of these are used with the DA and that way you don't have to hand polish anything.

The M105 is very abrasive and isn't needed unless your paint is pretty neglected, though In most cases the M205 and some wax is all you need to get to a show quality finish.

Thanks for the info. I used the lake country ccs pads, they seemed to work ok. I used NuFinish for a polish and mcguiars carnuba as a wax. I don't think I used an aggressive enough pad though. I still have minor, minor scratches (micro marring?) that are only visible when viewed at the right angle at night under streetlights. It was the first time using the PC, so I was a little paranoid about f'ing something up.

With the DA you don't have to worry too much about messing something up. You need pressure and friction to get the job done. Work slowly in small sections. Lots of good videos on Youtube that will show you how long to spend in each place in order to be effective.

Good lighting helps too. I use one of the twin work halogen work light stands and move it around with me to make sure I'm done in each area before I move on

A good polish/pad combo is a must, though

I just ordered the Pporter Cable / pad kit for $199 with free shipping from the autogeeks yesterday. I have some scratches and marks on the clearcoat that I need to take off. It bugs the shit out me.

Good Times!! Get you some Maguire's M205 off of Amazon.com and you'll be set.

Did you get any pad cleaner with the kit? If not the packs of snappy clean are awesome.
