On a serious note, these are really solid units. I don't think you'd mind the engraving after you get it in. It's pretty subtle.

I do like it and I am sure that it is a nice product. JLT has some nice stuff but I was asking a legitimate question about it.

Anyone ever figure out if the driver side needs one. I just read through all 11 pages and never came across an answer. Thanks.

While testing on the street I saw no oil from the driver side, but on track at VIR (3+ mile road course) it got oil in it.
I still have it installed and am checking it to see how it is with more miles. I may release a driver side, but recommend it for road course cars.

Thanks
Jay

New to mustangs and the site. After a bunch of research I ordered a black one along with the CAI and SCT package.

Thanks JLT - look forward to future business as well.

Well, I got mine in and managed to install it in a matter of seconds! Literally.

I've not seen any of the throttle improvements that Frank mentioned (I think it's the placebo effect Frank), but I am certainly collecting oil.

I think what has actually happened was the JLT showed me I had a fucked up PCV valve. The valve probably got shaken around a bit as I was installing the can and worked for a little while. Once it got real cold though, it stopped working and I had oil being blown out around the PCV valve grommet on my newly painted spark plug coil-over covers. I changed it yesterday, well the Ford dealer did, and now I no longer have the very quiet ticking noise I was getting from that side of the motor.

With the new PCV valve in, I'm no longer getting my RPM surge and drop that started happening a few weeks ago. About the same amount of oil is in the can though.

The enclosed picture shows the amount of oil in the JLT separator after 1 week of commuting to/from work and never went above 5K RPM. FWIW, I've practically had oil dripping out of the filter on my 2001 Lightning, but didn't think it would be this bad for a NA motor. Then again, I've replaced intake gaskets on my 2000 540i and 2001 Suburban and both intakes are completely coated with oil on the inside... The shadow is making it look like a ton of oil. There was probably a bit less than a teaspoon in there. Still more than I would like getting sucked back into the intake.

A :thumb2: to JLT for a beautifully machined catch can with a clean OEM fit.

What's so nice about the JLT can is the install of course.

I drove the shit outta my Stang this past week. But I've had weird as hell weather around here too. We've gone from 25° night time temps and 42° day time temps to 74° yesterday and 60° last night. All these temps changes has seen a LOT of water in that catch can mixed in with the oil due to condensation of a hot/cold metal can. However, it also has to do with how the PCV system operates in widely varying temps as well. There's zero water in my oil BTW, as it should be. But finding that much shit in my JLT can with water also mixed in makes me so glad I bought this. All that shit would be going down my intake track and being burned up in the combustion process.

It would be interesting to see two 5.0L 'Stangs with everything being the same over a 50,000 mile period. Same oil, changed at the same intervals. One with the JLT can and one without.

I wonder if the engine with the JLT can will have cleaner intake and exhaust valves. I'm positive it would be cleaner, but it would be nice to have the experiment validated.

I agree Frank. I've put quite a few mods on my car since getting it, but this is one of my favorites for peace of mind knowing that crap isn't going in my intake.

Sorry if asked before. I did not read through all pages of this post, but should I be worried if I see a faint metallic sheen in the oil collected?

My car has 3,600 miles and had it's first oil change with Mobil 1 10 days ago. I assume it's still breaking in and it's just from that. I did put it through several 0-110 runs and a race with an Evo 9 while testing my new Bama race tune and CAI.

I did not see any sheen of metal in the break-in oil, but did not expect to see it in the collected EGR oil

Just scanned through all the pics of other's collected oil and I see the same metal sheen in two other's oil so it must be normal.

For example GeorgeInNePa. He's thinking it is water, but I think it's faint metal from the rings/bearings because a magnet does move the small specs.
The can was emptied after my last pic (In my thread in Pimpin' It {My First Mod}.

This at 264 miles since last empty...

I think it's either aerated, or it's the moisture in the oil we are seeing.

Nope. Take a magnet and swirl around and some of the flakes stick to it. The rest must be aluminum. I'm sure there's water in there too, I'm just saying there is metal too and wondered if it's showing up in the 5.0's with higher miles than mine at 3,600.

I'm not seeing it in mine - ~9k miles. Mine is a lot more milky oily than my original pic in this thread.

I have just over 1900 miles on mine.

I haven't checked my catch can in over 950 miles. I am waiting for 1000.
