Need Help with Boat Motor!

OK My girlfriends dad is giving me his boat as long as I can fix the damn thing but the engine won't start. He made a comment that it could be the Fuel Pump but I haven't been over there yet to check it out. What can go wrong with them and what should I expect? He also said it turns but wont get fuel to it.

Well what type of motor is it we need some details on what it's doing

assuming it's an outboard, check/change the fuel hose first, sometimes the fitting that pligs into the front of the motor goes bad and won't open.

Cool and it is an outboard motor and i think its an 80hp but I dont know the make until I see it this weekend.
