I really want to do this. The only issue is it can't be driven off of the balancer (well at least a 6.5" balancer) because it will get over-spun. I need to add a extra belt and "gear" it down. It's nearly impossible on the passenger side of the motor. The drivers side on the other hand has enough room and stuff going on where I can make it happen.

Do you think with the stock heads on my car it will have the same issues? I do have a JLT CAI Gen 3 going on

My engine builder warned me about using a vacuum pump that pulls a lot of vacuum on an engine that uses an oil pump like our engines do.

I texted him and he said that a gerotor style pump doesn't like air bubbles that a vacuum pump can create in the oil. He said the limit is approximately 11 inches of vacuum on our style oil pumps. Sooooo......keep that in mind since the pump you posted up is rated to pull 25 in/hg.

Are you talking about gearing it down? Yeah, that's the trick. If I mount it on the DS I can run it off a idler pulley over there so it will spin slow enough. I couldn't figure out how to gear it down enough on the PS.

The amount of vacuum is easy though. You run a check valve on the valve cover that you can set to make any # you want. The check valve will just bleed air into the crankcase if the vacuum gets too high. So in the case you can set it at 10 and be good. It's like a blow off valve in reverse.

Yup...That's what my friend/engine guy does on his dragster.

I snapped this shot of one of his passes at the track and you can barely see it on the valve cover(the valve you're talking about). And yes, it's Ford powered

yes, they either wont hold up or they wont do much for pulling vacuum. I tried a cobra smog pump and it pulls less than 1 hg/in from the crank case. I tried a few others and they wont last running all the time or they are too loud or they just suck at sucking.

Ok, so the 100MM dollar question is, will this make a positive power impact (gains less losses due to pump use)

I like the idea of pairing one of these pumps with a dry sump system and the oil pump where the AC compressor goes. You could even feed the vac pump outlet back into the oil resovoir. Now that's a cleeeaaaan oil system.

Ok, so the 100MM dollar question is, will this make a positive power impact (gains less losses due to pump use)

I talked with the guy from GZ Motorsports. He seems to really know his stuff and comes across as a straight shooter. I'm pretty good at detecting when I'm being bullshitted, and I didn't feel that at all. We talked about my setup specifically and he said he would be amazed if it didn't pick up 50hp (net) and that is a soft number.

I've picked up 5-6hp on 170hp Ducati motors just putting a good reed valve in and a bigger breather tube. That's not even real vacuum. Crankcase pressure is no joke, especially on blown motors.

Let me ask a stupid question based off of this.....What difference would there be at having a low vacuum pull from the crankcase vs having a push when pressure builds(i.e. running breathers)? I'd think a slight/small vacuum would be better than running just straight breathers? A small vacuum would help pull more than allowing it to just push itself out?

Yes, a little is better than no vacuum. But the biggest problem with the electric ones is that they crap out real fast. They were not designed to have oil in them, and they will.

Load on the belt. See they suggest a single V type belt, it will be too crazy to try to move it from another pulley?
