This forum with all its great info was one of the reasons i hesitated and considered a new GT. Now with the “update” this makes my decision to pick up a C6 Z06 a little easier now. Ever since things changed hands here you could see the writing on the wall. Later guys it was real.

Forum software would dictate your purchase? seems silly to me.

I don't like how this forum looks now, so I will not buy the car it talks about. Dumb.

No of course I wouldn't pick a vehicle based on what software a forum is using but the death of a forum that heavily supports said vehicle is a factor. Hate to say it but C5's for example haven't been made for 13 years and the forums for those vehicles is very strong. This forum no matter how you dress it up is dying. Leadership has said it themselves that traffic is way down and information available or being exchanged is dwindling. Heck up until a few days ago there was an ad running for a contest that ended a long time ago. LOL Just look around. Only a handful of the regular people post and I can see soon any archives will be gone or at least heavily diminished in some forum glitch which is sad because I feel this was the best forum on the net for 05-14 S197's. No offense but since the forum was sold it has not been the same here and not for the better I feel. I don't know if anyone can deny that.

What, corvetteforum.com? That forum is one of the biggest forums on the net. It won't die any time soon and it also is not a one gen forum either. To be honest, the forum traffic and activity has been steady for a while and now has gone up since the change over to the new forum software.

I'm not gonna lie the fact that the forum hosts it's own images now is the shit. This format puts VBulletin to shame. The layout is far more efficient once you adjust to the new format.

Bunch of old farts around here resistant to change. Yeah, the forum is slower than it was during its prime 5+ years ago, but if you ask a question, you will usually have a few replies fairly quickly. And seeing as how these cars have been out for over a decade, most every topic has been broached anyway.

As far as the format, it takes some getting used to, but as RocketcarX said, it's superior to vBulletin.

I will comment, that the forum definitely functions better with the new platform, loads more quickly, easier to use as one gets more familiar.

I had to try like 4 different skins before settling on the one i like. I get more used to it each time I visit. I was "meh" at first, but it's ok. It's growing on me. My cheese was moved, but I am finding it again.

Exactly how I felt when it was first installed on another forum of mine. When XF came out, I hated the look, feel, and everything else and was never going to convert over. The first main reason I decided to give it a try was that vB's functions where lacking, alot, and I wasn't even thinking of upgrading to the new vB 5.x. So I decided to test it on a small forum. I hated the default layout(still do) but with the custom design that was installed on the first converted forum, I liked it. It grew on me like it is you guys. Just better over all, and I now even view the forums more on my phone more often then I did before(Hate Tapatalk and never liked the vB mobile skin) because of the responsive design. Looks good on my phone.

Glad you are all starting to like it.

Anyone know what the picture limit is on here? Was 14.1MB on old site.

My initial reaction wasn't great at first, but now I'm discovering a lot of cool things.

For one the PM box is not as limited. Before there was a 100 message cap (includes outgoing messages) and it looks like we get unlimited messaging now. The "random media" box to the right displays Mustang porn that I wouldn't have found on the old format. Multi-quoting messages is much easier and more intuitive. The alert system is nice too and lets me know when someone posts in a subscribed thread, which is more convenient than going into the User CP to check for updates. Another thing is I get email notifications on popular threads. I guess this was put in place to keep people coming back.

Overall the new layout is awesome. The traffic dying down here is because people moved on to S550s or other cars and the biggest contributors of the forum going into uncharted waters with engine swaps, FI builds etc have accomplished their goals (or gave up) and slowed down their posting. This has been a tech/racing oriented forum and always will be and Photobucket holding pictures hostage is no fault of the forum.

What is this "random media" box to the right? Nothing like that on my screen.

On the forum home page there is this. I also just learned I can copy/paste images into the text box - something we couldn't do before.

I noticed the iTrader ratings are gone which is kind of a bummer. Maybe it got moved somewhere else?

Working on the itrader. There is another add on that can convert the older ratings to the new one(if it can't, there will still be a itrader type system put up, but they say the can import it).
