Nitrous Issue.

I have a 06 Mustang GT with a Dry ZEX Nitrous kit, I was pretty worried about going with a dry kit at first but a few of my tuner buddies here in Kentucky told me that it would be fine on the power goals I was looking for out of it which is only a 75 shot.

For the time being I have a small jet in it(maybe a 30hp shot) and it is drilled before the maf into my CAI. But when I arm the bottle and the wide open throttle switch activates the car acts real hesitant and dumps fuel. It's like someone shut the key off when I push the pedal to the floor. I don't know if it is air in the line or what. I have had my bottle checked and it is full with no leaks anywhere. It only works a little at a higher rpm 4500 and up but when it is at a lower rpm 2500-3000 it does the fuel cut feeling.

I'm honestly just new to nitrous and figured I would ask all the smart forum guys! Thanks you all!

Do you have any pics of where you mounted the nozzle ? What bottle pressure are you running ?

I can post a pic later. But I am running around 950 to 1000psi and it is mounted about 4 inches before the mass air flow sensor. It is also being sprayed into a K&N CAI.

You're freezing the MAF. 4" before is way too close.

Is is a stock MAF?

the MAF does its job by monitoring temperature change. more exactly buy monitoring how much voltage it takes to keep a given heat element at a given temperature.

nitrous boils somewhere in the neighborhood of -160* iirc. if I am wrong I am in the right area though. so when 1000psi nitrous is released it absorbs a LOT of heat from its surroundings . thereby making everything around it cold.

by hosing down your maf with nitrous you are making the engine think it is some rediculous cold temperature outside. that is why it dumps fuel. you can also break your maf like that.

people say you can tune like that though, by making the maf colder it will automatically compensate with more fuel. but this is a touchy process and there are a lot of factors to include under hood heat at the moment you hit the spray and spray pattern. oh yeah, and breaking your maf LOL.

I hope that helps.

Not to sure bout dry systems but wet systems work best close to the t/body. Have you talked to Zex? Might wanna talk to the horses mouth first. But yeah to close to the maf can freeze the wire and send false signals to your PCM. Plus run the risk of maf failure.

Dry kits want to be sprayed before the MAF, just not that close to it. I personally HATE dry kits and never would recommend using them. Its just easier to deal with a wet kit.

also make sure you have the wideopen throttle wired right...i didnt have mine right and whenever i armed it, it would spray at that instant...but didnt make the car die...ran higher RPM etc...i just had the wrong wire. (also was on a wet kit)
