So, with the additional low end grunt of the Whipple, I've quickly realized I need new tires!

I've pretty much narrowed it down to a few choices. I am however interested in your suggestions.

1. Forgestar CF5 in 18x9 and 18x11
2. Forgestar CF5 or F14 in 20x9 and 20x11
3. Racestar 17" (F) and 15x10 rear

I really live the look of a lot more rims, but I want to run a 305 at minimum DR out back.

What do you guys suggest?

Where are you Forgestar guys getting the rims? I've seen you guys claim $1,400 shipped for the 18" CF5's.

Any other options I may be missing? I've also considered the Boss wheels that Tiger has, as they make a 10" rear.

Keep in mind, I have Brembo brakes. This may cancel out the Racestars.

The 17x4.5" Racestar fronts should clear the Brembo brakes.

if you plan on getting traction for the track, racestars. You won't be optimizing your times running an 18 or 19" DR.

For the street sure, any of the above.

I have 20x11 and 20x9 piano black F14's. opted for 305/35/20 rear 555R's. they have given me great traction on the street (no wheel spin with my 07 whipple @ 387rwhp),but i have yet to see any drastic improvements in the 1/4 mile over the 285 street tires i had before.

forgot to add: found my 20's with falken fk452's all the way around from ebay shipped to my door (alberta, canada) for 1900$$$, keep an eye you might luck out!

I think to do it right at the strip the racestars with real drag radials or slicks are whats required, however if you are like me and want to run the same combo street and strip i am very happy with my f14's and 305 555R's.

That's what I like to hear.

I thought I had seen a set installed on a Brembo equipped car.

I know that the 15's would net the best result on the track, but I'd like to have a happy medium.

Most of my driving is on the street. In fact, I'd consider this a street application with the rare trip to the track.

I think the 18's would be that perfect happy medium.

You agree?

20's will look the best, but obviously will perform the worst.

You seen the Vossen vvs-Cv2??

Sure have. Great looking wheel, but not a fan of the price.

Well, I'm somewhat in the same dillema as you. I currently use a 17x10 bullitt rim for my 295/45/17 ET Street Radial II's. Not a great solution, but I've cut consistant 1.6 60's with them. Downside is, theyre heavy and they do not match my front wheels, which are just my stock 18x8's.

Here is what I plan to do over the winter, you may get some ideas from this. For my goals, I unfortunately cannot get by with 1 set of wheels. If you are only going to get one set of wheels, I'd say grab some 18s, and run a 305 DR. Be careful in the rain though.

1. Buy a set of wheels of my liking, and may even buy a second set of rears for just DR's to mess around on the street
2. Also buy a set of racestars, now this means I am not going to be buying a set of $3000 forged street wheels.

What are your thoughts on the Weld RTS? That might be a viable option to look into.

I just ordered my Forgestar CF5s in 18X9 front, 18X11 rear from elementwheels.com about three weeks ago for $1460.

I have yet to recieve them but am looking forward to it. I will probably be running 305/40 Nitto 555R with 255/40 555s front. I'll see how that holds up hopefully in a month or so. Granted, I do not have nearly as much HP as you.

bet that looks awesome on the street, although having a 6spd manual, shocking the drivetrain on the launch at the track, more sidewall is better. Those 305/40/18s are little skimpy sidewall wise.

Slip instead of dumping the clutch might help with that.

I have the racestars and they do clear brembos. I run a true slick and skinny combo for the track. My street tires are 18" CF5s and they hook pretty good in 3rd with a 335/30.

What exact tire would you all suggest that might be a better option. So far I think all I've found is 315/40 although I only looked around for tires of a sidewall similar to stock.

These are my M/T 305/45/18 DR's on a 10 inch wide wheel. They have a pretty good sidewall and have great traction. I run these on the street during the summer and they do very well.
