O/r x-pipe to headers?

Ok i've got a buddy down here that has an o/r x-pipe and it's tuned by bama for those. Will he need a retune for it going to the headers and an o/r x-pipe from the stock exhaust manifolds and o/r x-pipe?

Yes headers change the placement of the front o2 sensors and a tuner will need to adjust for that (last time I checked)

Thats what I thought too, till I called Brenspeed to get a revised tune. They told me until you get a Check Engine code & wright it down for them they wont know what to do in the tune.

Its been about 5 months & no codes yet.

Regardless he should get a new tune. Whether or not it is absolutely required the revised tune will provide more power with the new headers.

If he's got an o/r x-pipe tune from Bama, Doug has already turned off his rear 02s.

I assume he is going to shorty headers? If so, I don't think he would have to get a tune. The stock manifolds actually flow pretty well. But they look like rusted crap.

Long tubes, then yes, I would get a tune.

I'd get the car retuned.

When I went to an OR H-pipe I retuned the car. I took that off and went to hiflows, and got a retune again. I've saved the old tune so if I do go back to the OR H, I'll just have to reload that tune.

It's already tuned for an off road x, so the rear 02s are already turned off so it will not pop a code.

So what did Doug say?

Doug tuned my car, way back in '05. Picked up 27rwhp in one run going from stock to a JLT intake and Doug's tune.

A couple weeks later, I put on an off road H pipe and went back. Besides turning off the rear O2, there was no change needed in the tune whatsoever, every thing looked exactly the same, except I picked up 6 rwhp.

With headers, mid lengths, yes I think he might need a tune.

What does it matter where the hell they are? Shit, mine aren't even plugged in! I have caps on the bungs.

That doesn't make any sense. Whether you have an off road mid pipe and stock manifolds or a set of long tubes, the rear 02s are turned off. So it doesn't matter where they are, even plugged in or not, they are off. There is no cat so there is no change on O2 for the O2 sensors to detect.

Geez guys he is talking about the UPSTREAM O2s not the the downstream...Yes you will 100% need a new tune if not you will get slow response codes for the front O2s because of their new location.

Yes you will get these 2 codes P0153 and P0159 continuously.
