Going for my first mountain bike ride, it was a blast! Just using the mongoose to get a few rides in before I get an expensive bike.

The wife and I just picked these up a few weeks ago. Since I was always into motocross I can't believe I am just getting into mountain biking, I think I have found my outdoors sport of choice!

Mine: 2014 Giant Talon 4 27.5
Wife's: 2013 Specialized Myka 26er

Buddy of mine is an ex motocross guy. He reverses his brakes on his bikes to match his moto style of riding.

Congrats on the purchases. Enjoy!

Thanks man! I had considered reversing the levers at first for that very reason, but I guess I've been out of it so long that I don't even give thought to the left lever being the front brake.

Can anyone recommend a good mtb/bike forum?

Tenspeed: I was on the mtbr forum and saw a member with your SN, is that you?

Yes it is. There are a few of us here on that site as well, one nice gentleman there led me to this forum in fact. That is a pretty good spot to be on since it is so huge. Try a local site as well, for local trail info and possible trail days where you can help work on the trails that you ride.

Ok cool, I will probably jump on that forum then. I have been looking for a Ky/Tn forum to join but not having much luck finding one that has much activity. I'm hopeful though because biking seems to be starting to blow up back where I'm from.

just came back from 3 days of mountain biking in VT. The trail network up that way has to be one of the best. 63 total miles for the weekend.

i will tell you i love it.... most of the time. The X-Cal came with a Rock Shock but i took it off on day one. With all the climbing i do having a real lock out is great. Zero bobbing, plus it lightens up the bike.

I have the same fork on my single speed. I try to get to the gym and work on my core which helps a lot!!

If anything it is my arms that get tired if i am riding a lot of roots and rocks.

ZX6R

My 2004 ZX6R that I sold last season, hopefully this summer I can fulfill my goal of buying a 675 Daytona if I can fight off the turbo bug :evillaugh:

Me and a couple friends went out to Highland MX Park yesterday and got a few motos in. They obviously don't prep on weekdays but it is one of the few tracks in the area that is open on weekdays so I can't really complain too much. I've only been riding a few months after a 3 year hiatus(so be easy on me!) but I am slowly start to get the hang of it again. I need to brake later and quit coasting so much!

Thanks dude, I'm trying. Yeah, it's a Kawasaki KX250. I did the 4 stroke thing for a few years but then switched back to the ole trusty 2 stroke. I don't race anymore and just have more fun on the 2 stroke. Plus, there is just something satisfying about passing guys on their new $8,500 450s on my 8 year old, $2,500 250!:beerdrink:

Gonna commute to work today, maybe grab a picture and post it. Supposed to hit 50 today, but right now, it is in the low 40's. 7.5 miles to work on the road, and I am dreading that wind. Need to do it anyway, suck it up, and pedal.
