oil under the economy charge plate blades

can someone tell me if this is normal.i install the cmdp and when i removed the stock ones i found them full of oil under the blades.

This is the result of a "closed crank case ventilating system". No doubtly the oil vapor through the PVC system being re introduced into the intake. Def not a good thing. Hence the use of catch cans, and modifying valve covers to accept breathers.

does it hurt to run open breathers instead of catch cans on a bolt on car? would it mess with the tune or anything by not having the unmetered air flow back into the intake?

No. If you have breathers on both valve covers than you'll be okay.

isn't this oil a result of the vacuum that's in the intake tract after the throttle body slams closed? like after a high speed blast, and then getting off the throttle and coasting down? the pistons are still trying to pull a lot of vacuum, so it's drawing oil back down the exhaust valve guides because it has to pull it from somewhere when the throttle body is closed until the rpm's subside and pull less vacuum?

i'm certainly no expert, but it seems it's something i picked up from more of the knowledgeable members around here. imho opinion the catch can won't catch this oil as it's not coming from the valve covers to the intake and then to the delete plates (it looks like it's on the bottom of the butterflies and not the tops), it's drawing down the valve guides and seals, if i'm imagining this right

also you didn't say if you're fi...isn't that where the catch cans help the most...the extra boost escaping back thru the pcv system and capturing it before it's reintroduced into the intake tract...

i probably have it all wrong

yes is in the bottom of the butterflies and no im not fi, there was some on top but most of the oil was underneath it..i have nitrous but i havent use it in 3 weeks.another place were i found some oil residue was on the breather hose that goes from the the engine to the manifold in the drivers side.
my thing is if is bad for the engine why would ford make it this way?

forgot to mention that i had a little oil under mind also...didn't really worry about it. i think it's very common

so far i have looked at different websites with people that had done the install and taken pictures and everyones have oil in them except for taco bills.LOL.his butterflies looked very clean compare to everyone else.

Ford made it that way 'cause the EPA told them to make it that way. Venting positive crankcase pressure back into the intake charge and burning it in the engine is not for performance, but pollution.
