Was scrolling the s197 group on fb today and saw this GT/CS in a show. I noticed the very top of the interior door trim start to come away and had totally forgotten about mine. I do recall lazily propping them back up with thumb-tacks; quite the mad max effect. After rats chewed up all my seats I got a deal on new fronts, rears, and interior door panels that either came plastic or had the inserts already swapped and the memory left me.

The thin foam between fake leather and panel disintegrates to dust. Remove the foam and glue new thin foam on the panel and on top the leather. The secret is the right glue and to use a lot of it.

I have some for sale... off my old 06' GT Convt. and that material is pealing off too, but you could recover them. Also, have custom made pull-over beige seat covers.

Those door inserts suck. I upgraded to '10-14 style panels and they still fall off! Ended up having to fix them with silicone just like the old ones.

One of the main reason is the green madness. Plastics have to deteriorate to be "environmentally friendly" which is total nonsense. If you find a plastic bag from the 90th in your basement, you can still use it, a 10 year old instead crumbles to dust. And than they cry microplastic.
