Help! I'm trying to install my fan remote, mfg by Hampton Bay. The fan is a Hunter fan, it's compatible although the wiring isn't coded the same.

At the ceiling I've got... Green, Red, Black, White.

The fan has Green, Black, Black/White, White.

The fan remote receiver has three wires that need to go to the fan. White, Black, and Blue. It says Blue is the Light Kit. Black and White are for the fan motor.

On the other side of the fan remote receiver to be hooked up to the ceiling is a Black and White wire.

How should this be wired up? By the way, it's coming from a single switch set-up. Do I just cap off the red and not use it now?

I believe you will still need red as it is a hot wire. At the ceiling Red and Black are hot, Green is ground, white is neutral.
How the stuff you have is supposed to be hooked up there I have no idea lol sorry.

According to an electrician, I was correct that the Red needs to be capped for how I want it hooked up. The only other one questionable is the Blue wire on the fan remote receiver. However, the only other odd wire in the fan would be the Black/White so I'm assuming that's the correct wire.

Oh ok, lol well maybe thats why I am not an electrician lmao. I bought a book from Lowes that explains how to wire a bunch of different things in the house and to install new outlets, havent had to do a ceiling fan yet lol.

Well, I put it back up like I said. I capped the Red wire from the ceiling. Confirmed that all fan light kits are controlled by a Blue or Black/White wire. The reciever barely fit in the canopy and had to get a little creative. Of course it didn't help that the bed was directly under and not nearly tall enough. The light switch still will turn the fan and light off as well in correlation to remote settings.

Hampton Bay = Blue
Hunter = White/Black

nice looking workbench man. with tax return cash just a few weeks away I'm planning some more work on the house also. I'm contemplating replacing the ugly tile we have in our kitchen and putting in something similar to yours. just need to measure out how much sq feet I need and price out some tile. seeing all the work youve been doing around your home keeps me motivated to keep working on mine some more. just wish I was as handy around the house to do most of the work on my own like you are haha

Thanks, it's much more impressive looking assembled that's for sure... LOL PS: Yes, that box was loaded into the stang, which was interesting to say the least!

Just make sure you add in some extra for "waste" and for "spare". Waste can sometimes be as much as 15-18% depending on the pattern, tile, etc.

Depending on how large the area is will depend on how much extra you'll want just for spare. If it's just the kitchen I'd get a box or two extra for spare only.

Good job on the fan remote. I just bought one for our bedroom fan, but haven't installed it yet. The genuises who built our house decided that having a switch on the wall for the fan was too much effort for them to put in. And naturally, we somehow broke the pull cord on the fan, so it's been running non-stop, in a room that's only occupied for about 8-10 hours daily. Awesome, right? Your troubles will be my gain, so thanks, lol.

damn that looks even better built! how much did that run you? I would need something that size so it doesn't take up much space inside the garage once I'm done with it.

Finally got a new end table for the Family Room. I had bought this last week on Monday from American Signature. I picked it up with a buddy and his truck on Tuesday only to find out it was in a box and needed to be assembled. Okay, kind of weird but whatever. I get home and start unboxing it, one of the corners is broken off. I call them up and they want me to bring it back. I tell them no way, I just borrowed someone's truck and drove an 1-1/2 hour there and back. So they need to bring me a new one and pick up the damaged one. After a while they finally agree but now it's going to take until Tuesday. Yet it only took a day last time and it comes from the same warehouse. Last time I'll be using them for ANYTHING. I'm so glad I used Haverty's for all of my furniture.

sucks about the table being broken man. makes small things like that a pain to deal with not having a truck. the whole way back from ikea with my entertainment center I was hoping I didn't open up the box when I got home and see a broken piece or something.

Pissed me off because if I would of known it was in a box I would of just taken my car...

Why oh why did I not get the ball bearing Craftsman tool chest? I have the same one in red, but without the ball bearing slides. UGH!

Nice workbench too.

Yeah, it's definitely worth it. After a while the standard drawers get grittier and grittier. I wonder if it's possible to upgrade to the ball bearing slides. I need another box or two because I'm running out of room. The work bench is awesome. I love the light, the surge protector, drawers, peg board, it was exactly what I was going to build myself.

I still need to get a hold, again, or buy a paint sprayer to paint the front doors and garage-entry door. I'm going to be ditching the front Venetian blinds for some matching wood blinds like the rest of the house. Although, I'm really debating on just buying (a) new stronger door(s).

I've got to decide if I want to do dual fans or dual hanging lights on the patio. I'm not too sure.. I just know I'm not spending $350-400 each on a outdoor ceiling fan. If I do end up doing fans I'm deliberating just getting some indoor fans for ~$100 and seeing how they pan out.

Than come Spring time it'll be time for the yard. St. Augustine in the front and rear. River Rock (Orange) in the planters, eventually concrete curbing. Still getting some ideas for the planters.

House looks great

Appreciate it!
