Popping sound during acceleration

Recently I started to have a problem when I accelerate. The exhaust sounds like it pop’s then goes away. It pretty much does this every time I begin to push the pedal down. It's like pop pop varroooom. I'm pretty sure the car bogs down for a slight instant. (this isn't a backfire you can feel the car hestitate during the pops almost like the car hit some water in the gas gurgles a little then the water clears and your off)

Any suggestions?

Misfire. Start with checking for vacuum leaks, then move to the plugs.

Ok I seem to have fixed the issue. I swapped my MSD cops for the stock ones took the car for a drive and the car drove like crap. I still had the gurgling sound. Went back home disconnected the battery for 10 minutes then went for another drive.

This time the car drove perfect. There also feels like there is more power then witht the MSD COPS. I have no reason why disconnect fixed the issue but it worked!

I broke the damn tab on a COP plug. When I installed the stock COPS one of the plugs for the power on the COP's was loose. I gave it a small bend to see if it would snap in and it snapped. Broke the damn plug I have it holding on with a few zip ties for now. What a mess. Time to call ford again.

please post after you try these out for a while. They have got some very mixed reviews from people on here and another site.

Worst I saw was poofed after 2 passes (CK i think).

On the COPs deal, I had the ACCEL COPs in mine for only 600 miles when one went bad. I had bought them before I found out they were not needed. Some people have good luck with them but a lot don't also. If you think the MSD ones are bad, they might be under warranty still from MSD. ACCEL offered to replace mine up to 1 year. Just in case.

So the stock coils are better than the MSD ones?

ahh..better? i guess that is subjective. More reliable, yeah. Never seen anyone say, man...my stock COPs went bad. Can't say that for aftermarket COPs...several brands.

All I know personally is my ACCEL COPs bit the dust after 600 miles and my stockers have been back in for 4k with no problems and putting down a lot more HP now (3.8 pulley down to 3.4) than when the ACCELs went south.

MSD coils on anything 96 and up blow!

Your stock ones are fine. Just need a good plug.

I am running the Ford Racing EVO plugs and love them!! Should look into it.

Ok I replaced the Plugs and still have this issue. I noticed when the stutter happens the boost gauage will stutter and so will the fuel pressure gauge. I am at a loss on what to check next.

The stutter you can hear clear out the exhaust it only happens as you begin to push down the gas. If I drive with hardly pushing on the throttle the car doesn't stutter soon as I push down futher it stutters.

Ok I just installed the tune brenspeed emailed me for their stage 3 kit a few months ago, not configured for the torque converter or larry's transmission.

The poping sound is still there but Not nearly as bad as with adams tune. You feel the popping as you push the throttle its almost like 3 pops. They are always in the exact same spot on the thottle. Since there is a huge difference in the hesitation(poping sound) between Brenspeeds and Adams tune does that mean it IS tune related? It doens't make any sense since the car was running fine a few weeks ago.

I noticed the stef's oil seperator comes with teflon on the peacock. Could some of the teflon clogged a fuel injector??

I only notice something when I push the throttle down like Tap it a few inches then it hesitates everytime. I watch the fuel pressure gauge bobble where ever the hesitation is ( like its trying to jump up but jumps a little down and bounces there a few quick seconds. One time at the hesitation I smashed the gas and nothing happen. Almost like I never hit the pedal. It only did this once.
Pulled the plugs everything looked good visually inspecting them.

I don't have any problems when I creep up to speed or cruising around town. I mostly notice it if I fast tap the gas. The problem doesn't appear if I slowly bring the car up to speed. OR I drive like my a grandma. It doesn't matter if I'm doing 5 MPH or 100 if I tap the throttle half way You feel the poping under your foot and hear it from the exhaust. IT seems to awalys be the same 3 pops, it's not really a pop but a burp or hesitation.

The best I can descrbie it is imagine driving down the road keeping a steady pass then tap the throttle like revving the car in drive but not enough to make the car launch. This is when I hear and feel the problem.

Anyone know if it could be my FPDM?

I had the car in drive holding the brake down hit the gas to a few pounds of boost car moved a tiny bit but it didn't hesitate or burp like it does it drive. I put the car in neutral revved the engine no sound.

The problem seems to be only isolated to when the car is moving.

Actually, it sounds just the opposite to me... not tune related.

Yeah I agree it's not tune related at all. The tune was awesome now it's not so I'll say no to the tune issue. I'm just poking around at everything.

I'm running the Twin GT pumps spliced into the stock setup.

I ordered a new FPDM from ford it will be here Tuesday.

The car still has power once it gets over the hiccups, If it's not the FPDM i'm going to pull the fuel system out and start all over again. It almost feels like there is a hole in one of the fuel lines in the tank. To bad I just filled up earlier thinking it could have been a bad tank of gas.

My car has been down more then it's been up what a PITA!!! Stupid horsepower addiction.

Ok I'm starting to think the popping type issue is related to a pulley.

The fuel pressure issue I fixed. This damn rubber duckbill was ripped to hell. Replaced that and the pressure is awesome but I still have the popping.

So I went to install the larger waterpump pulley spent hours trying to get one screw off so I said screw it and put it all back together. What do you know the issue is WORSE I mean alot worse. It has the popping sound worse then before. So I'm thining I must be on to something. I tightened all the pulleys and waiting to test drive.

I had the neighboors call the police on my car again today so there is a trooper sitting next door to me waiting for me to leave.
