05 Mustang with build date 1/7/05 has Active Anti-theft and HAD Global Access (power window down with Key FOB) until dealer replaced defective wiper motor and Smart Junction Box (SJB). SJB water damaged (see TSB 07-14-06) and dealer replaced SJB. When car was delivered had DRLs (Datime Running Lights) on and no Global Access power windows. After a LONG TIME they were able to turn off the DRLs but Global Access does not work.Tech said he did the Inhale/Exhale procedure (after I told them about it). If this is true shouldn't the DRL bit have been OFF as this was a US car not a Canadian one and the ASBUILT data should have reflected this. Here is a excerpt from the Hotline Assistance Request they showed me:"according to ssm20128 the vehicle should not have this option to begin with according to build date"."there was an internal change to the sjb that will no lnger allow the feature to operate. Suggest contacting your zone office if further assistance is needed".What the heck is an SSM? particularily ssm20128.I believe the Global Access feature which was in the original SJB is SOFTWARE.Can this be RE-ENABLED? HOW?I worked with software for over 30 years and know a lot of things are possible. Can someone with technical knowledge please respond.BIGHANK

IIRC it has nothing to do with the SJB but the computer programming. it was disabled in the program.

err..mine has never worked from day 1. I guess I need to get em to fix it. Would be nice to put the windows down from inside the building a few min before I come out to the car..that fucker gets hot inside.

Whey you say " computer programming"...its not something in the custom tune (i.e. PCM) right? One of the other modules right?

I always thought it was in the programming also. But that may not be correct. I have put two PCMs in my car and the feature still works.

Just to make sure what I think is not working....is not working...

Your supposed to just press and hold your unlock button and after a few seconds the windows roll down...right?

cause mine don't do it and it would be nice if it did, but If I'm doing it wrong, that would be even better to know.

What is IIRC? Can't the eprom or chip be rewritten or replaced?

IIRC it has nothing to do with the SJB but the computer programming. it was disabled in the program.

If the SJB has nonvolatile memory can't it be restored to the level in the original SJB by reflashing or even replacing the chip with the one in the original SJB?

I've flashed a lot of EPROMS and this isn't to hard to do.

Welcome to my world. I have a late '05 model build date and mine has never worked. I've taken it to three dealerships, and none of them could get it to work after calling up the engineers. They told me that they had disabled that function at the factory and it is a mechanical disconnection that no re programming of the PCM can fix.

Personally, I believe it is a physical wire connection that is missing in the SJB, but can't prove it.
