Got my REAR Strange Brake Kit today. Put them on, very easy to do, and a very high quality kit. Now I can run even more backspacing on the Bogarts if I want because I have alot more room now between the wheel and the caliper.

I weighed the stock brakes, with the rotors, calipers, pads, and caliper brakets, came to 52lbs for both sides.

With the Strange Rear Kit, total weight for both sides was 24 lbs. So I dropped 28lbs. The rotors were thicker then I thought, should work pretty good. I also loved how the pads go into the Strange Calipers, very simple and no hassle.

I did this as I didn't want SD jumping through the computer screen to kick my ass if I was still running stock brakes on the rear. Note: I already have the Strange Brakes up front, which allowed me to get rid of that Bogart 1 inch spacer, which makes the front wheels sit alot better then before.

Here are some pictures:

Here is a comparison between the stock parts and the Strange parts. Pretty significant difference.

This is probably a stupid question but I'm considering a similar project in the future with the exception of using a small block. I assume the stock computer is no longer used. What did you do about the window auto up-down feature when the doors are opened/closed? Isn't this controlled by the computer? Thanks and this car is going to be amazing when done.

Ok, so the shortblock is finished! :highfive:

However, when set up with the cylinder head we found I need to go with a longer pushrod, and I am going to go with an upgraded valve spring and titanium retainer. The springs that were on the P51 had .040 to go before coil bind with the camshaft I had --- and had 240lbs on the seat. Builder wanted a more aggressive spring on it and a titanium retainer, so that is what I will be doing.

Here are some pictures of the shortblock. As stated earlier, the Diamond pistons have a 12.5 CC dome and the engine will be approximately 16.2 to 1 compression. Notice the Danny Bee belt drive. I also like the Moroso oil pan I have and the way the pickup tube is mounted. Notice the Kaase oil pump and the extra material where it mounts to the block.

Looking good, can't wait to see/hear the videos of this thing run. Since you are running strange brakes all around, do you have to change the master cylinder?

I don't know if you HAVE to, but I did to allow more valve cover clearance, so I got a Strange (got from Racecraft) manual master cylinder. With it being manual, no brake booster, so there is alot more room.
