I used to think like you do. I installed Scott Drake hood pins for looks but having left the pins out because I didn't want them stolen (the retaining cables rusted) had my hood pop during a "high speed" highway run. Fortunately the safety catch worked but the pucker factor nearly tore the leather from my seat.

Everything checked out with the latch and the stops are properly adjusted, but it still popped. The car only had 19k miles on it.

Now the pins stay in...

I'll bet your hood just wasn't latched all the way. If the OEM hood is latched properly, you can tug, pull, pound, and struggle with all your might, and you'll destroy the hood before you'll get it to open on its own.

I've shut my hood before without it being latched. It looks closed, but it's not latched entirely. That's the only explanation for your incident. The hood latch works exactly like a door latch. Ever had your door pop open? Me either.

Fully decided not to put different pins on the car. Thanks for the convincing guys.

The car is pretty much almost ready, just needs the hood to be finished up and some odds and ends.

FYI, if anyone is planning to relocate your horns on a 05-09, buy a 10+ Horn from a Mustang and it includes the bracket where you can basically attach it to the frame rail. I'll throw up a picture today. I'm using the mounting stud from where the washer fluid tank was.

Trying to figure that out now. Plan is to maybe do some Weld RTS I can swap it to for fun. I like the stock look but keep itching for something more aggressive... lol

Thanks all, originally I didn't intend to repaint the car but after seeing how our shop repainted it, I'm blown away. Black paint just doesn't look this good from the factory.

Looks fantastic Cam, the shop did a great job on the paint. I hate to say this but I think you should get a more aggressive wheel also. It just deserves better wheels.
