Installed metal tensioners in place of the oem plastic ones. Have a question for anybody who has done the swap. The plastic ones have a thin gasket that mounts against the block. The metal ones had no gasket at all, flat metal. I was told just to install them with no gasket maker and there was no gasket needed. Is this correct?

+1. No gasket necessary.

Thanks for the help and the info!!!

Was just not really for sure at first. Was afraid that they need to be sealed to keep the pressure up on the tensioner. I guess that the really tension is from the spring of the tensioner, not from the pressure of the oil.

Oil pressure's there just to add load onto the chain when the engine revs. Regardless, the metal ones do not need a gasket.

no, they were easy to find on there. and they are cheap. anyone know if these are the same as the "UPGRADED Primary chain tensioners (left and Right)
CAST IRON instead of plastic with built in fail safe ratchet in case of oil pressure loss- as used by Team MMR" that MMR has on there site? (yeah yeah i know screw mmr, but these may be ok?)
