everything on my V6 is stock that i know of and i want to know what parts i need to buy/should buy to get a louder throaty roarish sound.. i want loud not ridiculous but something to turn heads and whatnot

Headers? cats? mufflers? x/h pipe? what else is a part of the exhaust system..

You need to do a search on Youtube for V6 Mustang Exhausts. In the details, they will usually give all the specs on what they've done. Reading people's opinions and advice is one thing, but hearing that advice is what you need to do.

MagnaFlow Magnapacks - axle backs

Sounds beautiful... Always get compliments.
Quiet when it needs to be, but everyone will def be able to hear you when you stomp on it.

heres some food for thought. its really hard to tell anything on youtube. i took a chance and was real happy, wouldnt change for anything.

stainless steel is the ticket regardless of what you do. ive got stainless shorties( cheapos) but i bought a jba stainless h pipe kit and pipes and am using gt takeoffs, which i liked from day one and even more now a few years later. the kit was awesome except the hangers sucked, bought 2 oem`s. ive got $750 into my parts ( shorties were $100)

you cant get the h pipe kit any more unless you go with the jba mufflers system which also runs about $750. you can see the kit half way down this page

Get a GTA axle back and call it a day. Then use the extra money for a future mustang GT, bourbon, bar tabs, guns, motorcycles, and/or hookers.

Don't get the off road pipe or gut the cats on the 4.0. It doesn't sound good, no performance advantage on the 4.0 - everyone I know who did it regretted it.

Different thing when you are talking about the 4.6. Make sure you are listening to 4.0 set ups because our 4.0 will never sound like the 4.6.

I have the stock exhaust manifolds and cats going to the FRPP X pipe, stock mid/over axle pipes, into the GTB mufflers. I used to have mufflers off the GT500 (which are nothing more than GT mufflers for the GT with an automatic). It sounded fine, but the GTB is a much deeper tone.

I took a GT takeoff muffler from a GT manual and it sounded great on my v6. I got alot of compliments. It has a nice tone to it and isn't ricer at all. So just swap out the muffler for the GTA or B muffler and call it a day. Everything else is spending money to make it sound worse.

The GT500KR/FR500S mufflers sound great on the V6. I have gotten tons of compliments on them from GT owners and have had a couple of V6 guys wait for me to ask what exhaust I had on my car lol. I used to have the GTB mufflers which had great manors around town but when you stepped on it they came to life but just were not loud enough for me so I switched to the FR500S mufflers and same driving manors except this time when you step on the gas they scream and come to life.

Like Jim mentioned above. Keep your cats and don't run high flow cats they don't sound all they great from what I hear and people almost always regret it. Also if you want to get headers stay away from Long Tubes Headers and go with shorties.

I personally have stock headers stock cats an FRPP X-Pipe Stock over axle pipes with the FR500S mufflers and I don't think I will ever change that setup.

way back when, I ran the following setups...

Stock Manifolds
Stock Cats
Cut in X
GT mufflers

Quiet, sounded good at idle, and fairly good at wot.

Then

Stock Manifolds
Stock Cats
X pipe
SLP loudmouths

Sounded great, cold start sounded like a helicopter.

Then I wanted power...
So I went:

Pacesetter Longtubes
Modded GT H Pipe
Flowmaster ATs.
I have a vid of sorts of that
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=axAg3QbdtvI

Sounded like an angry bee.

Then before I sold it I welded in some hi flow cats.
Put the GT mufflers on.
Sounded really nice all around.

Honestly though, if I were to have kept the 4.0 I would have just done this and be done:
Shorties
Stock Cats
H pipe
Flowmaster ATs

Bottom line in the end it always sounded good til 2500+

Something to think about.
YouTube is your friend.
Don't spend 2K like me!

Honestly I my experience, the biggest gain I got with with the Longtubes, but I did feel a low end loss.
But at 3500 up I felt it pull much harder.
But you know it's bad when you feel a loss with 4.10s.

Shorties in conjunction with an X will give you a good SOTP, but aside from that, it's just better looking and lighter than stock.

As for what I did, I went off of NewTakeOff and got my whole dual exhaust kit for 299. Cheaper than the Pypes kit, and came with the exact same hardware, except it had GT mufflers.

I would say no to the magnaflow kit.
Possibly the pypes kit.

Here is a viable option:
Buy an X pipe
http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/item/PYP-XFM44/Ford-Mustang-V6-40L-Pypes-X-Pipe
$129

Then the down pipes

http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/item/PYP-TFM62/Mustang-Pypes-Stainless-Steel-Over-Axle-Pipes

$149

Hangar
http://www.latemodelrestoration.com...g-Stainless-Steel-Muffler-Hanger-V6-Gt-Shelby
$25

Clamps
http://www.latemodelrestoration.com...Pypes-Stainless-Stepped-25-Exhaust-Clamp-Pair

$50

$330 dollars right there.
That gives you more money to put towards better mufflers, or just buying a pair of GT stockers off ebay or something.

All you'd need is something to cut the pipes about 8 inches or so down past the cats, mount the new tailpipes, install your hangar, and dremel the bumper.
And you save about 100-150 dollars.

Or just spend 349 and buy it all together as a kit..lol sorry didn't see this until I looked.

Then again all you'd need are mufflers. And used GTs go cheap. Hell, I'd even get rid of mine for just shipping and 20 bucks.

what x pipe? :

http://www.americanmuscle.com/0509-mustang-xpipe.html

are shorty headers really worth it or gonna make any sound or performance difference??

what about these items? :

The American Thunder you posted is for a single on the passenger side only. The AT's have great sound, but they will drone. I had to pull them off and swap to the GT (and then to the GTB).

06Mach -are you talking about long tubes on the V8? On the 4.0 V6 the long tubes do not sound good and the performance gains are minimal at best naturally aspirated.

Don't forget that you also need to cut your existing rear bumper, assuming this is an 05-09 V6, or buy a NTO GT rear bumper. You also have to drill tap holes for the hangers on the passenger rear support.
