Hi everybody.

I am currently in the process of buying my first 'Stang. I have looked at quite a few and if I could I would buy them all however recently two cars has caught my attention. Both has a Coyote engines - or so I thought.

Turns out the first dealer had bought a salvaged GT in the States, shipped it to Lithuania to have it repaired and then imported to Germany to sell it there. Now, the car had Coyote written on it and the ad on the website I am using also stated that it had the coyote installed. Apparantly that was not correct.

Now I am going to have a look at the other one but it made me wonder, how can I recognize the coyote ?

I have attached a photo of the engine, maybe you can already tell me now if it really is a Coyote or not but it would also be nice if you can tell me how to see it so I can help myself in the future.

In advance thanks for your responses

The pic you posted is a Coyote. Really just look up some pictures online. There's a big difference in how the 3V and 5.0 look. It's not hard once you see them.

I should have added, the picture above is 100% a 5.0 Coyote, all 2011+ have that motor, would not make financial sense for anyone to engineer an older motor into the car.

Be cautious OP. The reason I say this is that the 2010 Mustang GT and the 2011 Mustang GT look the same on the exterior aside from some badging. IT would be eay for someone unknowing to mistake a 10 for an 11. It would also be very easy for someone seeking to make some extra money, to rebadge a few simple things on the 2010 to make it look like it was a 2011 though the engine again as mentioned would be a dead giveaway.Especially in a foreign country where the Mustang may not be the most popular car going.

Send pics of the car before buying. Don't just assume. Better to be sure by asking than to assume and be suckered. Love hearing a German wanting an American Muscle Car.

The 2010-2012 all look the same outside and inside. The 2010 sez "GT" on each side. The 11-12 cars have the "5.0" badging on each side. The 2010 car gets either a 5 speed automatic... or a 5 speed manual. The 11-12 cars get either a 6 speed auto..or 6 speed manual.

Here's a 2010 4.6 3V engine shot. Obviously different.

Hey,that looks just like my own 2010.... b4 the M90 blower was added. Note that STB goes up, over, and back down. The STB that comes with the 11+ 5.0 engs is dead flat across. The stb on the 2010 was re-used in 2011..on the 11+ V6 engs, which sit a lot higher . Same stb was then re-used on the 12-13 Bosss 302 cars..to clear the taller manifold on the Boss eng. After that, they called it the ..'boss 302 stb'. It's actually an oem 2010 stb. I almost forgot the 2010 came with that silly 'sound tube'.

On a similar note the 2010 stb also fits like a glove on the 05-09 cars. I sold mine to a local buddy with a 2008 GT ( 4.6L V8). Plenty of hood clearance. But the 2010 stb won't clear a roush M90 blower, or a TVS-1900 / 2300 blower. The steeda STB does clear both those blowers. Steeda makes 2 x stb's that will both clear a m90 /tvs 1900 /2300 blower setup.

RE: badging, easy for some unscrupulous fellow to swap badging. AM sells loads of badging. You could always tell a 2010 easy enough..since it sez.. "GT" on each side.... instead of .."5.0". I swapped mine for Roush badging..so now no way to tell if it's a 4.6 or a 5.0.
