Does these cars require you to take off long tube's to pull a motor around the tranny? Or are my only options to remove headers or drop the tranny? Tried searching but didnt come up with anything. Could go look up under it, but really dont wanna go jack it up right now. Thanks

I've seen pics of people pulling and installing our engines with Kooks LT's on but they are more of a mid-length header so I don't know about other ones.

I just pulled my motor. I have kooks. Let me tell you it's easier to take the headers off! I managed to pull it out leaving the driver side header in. But when I put it back in I tried it with both installed. Bad idea! I marked up the ceramic coating pretty bad on the steering shaft.

My advice. Take them off.

Used a cherry picker and pulled the motor out with the headers installed. It was not hard at all. Installed the same say.

I should note I did mine myself. With a guy on the picker and a guy on each side of the engine. it would make it easier pulling it and more importantly pitting it in.

I have kooks so it looks like I will try it with them on. We will have 2 of us out there so hopefully it goes without a problem

My advice is to do it the easy way and drop the motor and trans as one assembly out the bottom while still attached to the k frame. It makes things so much easier.

Motor, trans, with Kooks all in one piece a couple times here also. No problems ever. Dropping it might be an easier way to go if you have a lift, which most of us do not in our home garages. I have it down to a science, and can have the whole assembly out of the car in about 3 hours.
Coming out the top you also do not need to evacuate the AC system.

Great now all you need is plane ticket to Winnipeg.
