paint and body guys....

what's the best method for rubbing out a paint job? i bought a cowl hood last year from a paint and body guy that painted the hood for me to match my car, and he said it could be rubbed out to make the finish a little better.

the color is alloy and it's clear coated. how do i do this without messing up the paint? it has a few scuff marks and such from strapping it down in the back of a truck for transportation purposes, but nothing major.

^^yes, or if you do not want to get into wet sanding, you could probably get away with some 3m polishing compound, and buff that baby out. All according to how bad the scuffs are though.
