I just received a SCT programmer with 3 tunes from Bama tunes. Sorry if asked before, but I did not find a post with this exact question.

Is there any reason why I would not want to run the race tune all the time?

Specifically, since jumping out from a stop and spinning the tires is exactly what I want!

Excerpt from the AM/Bama tunes site:

"This file is designed for "Race only Use" as the timing, fuel, and throttle response settings are very aggressive. In fact, the adjustments are so aggressive, that we do not recommend it for daily driving as it may cause your vehicle to try to jump out from a stop and easily spin the tires."

The tune profiles are here on the Bama webisite. Other than the post about misfire codes, I'm trying to figure out a reason why I should not run the race tune all the time.

It shouldn't hurt just takes some getting used to, I've run my race tune for months at a time, it's fine.
just a bit too touchy for daily driving, unlike you I don't want to spin my tires by accident, cops don't seem to like that sort of thing lol

Oh, but make sure you run Chevron or texaco gas with Techron...that additive is unlike any in the industry, and while BP, Exxon, Mobil, and Shell have good quality gasolines, their additives dont do the job that Techron does at keeping BOTH your exhaust valves AND combustion chamber pree from carbon deposits.....I ran Shell for the 1st 10k miles in my 07, and started getting knock when running anyuthing more aggressive that the stock tune due to carbon deposits that created hot-spots in the combustion chanber. Switched to Chevron with Techron and the problem was solved within two tank-fulls.

Race tunes do meet emissions requirements.
Hence the disclaimer.
Drawing attention from the PoPo is not a good idea either.
We draw enough attention as it is just driving these cars.

I drive race tune daily. My race tune throttle response is hardly noticeable if at all over the stock. I don't have a laggy throttle response stock auto though.

I just loaded my Bama tune yesterday, I used the race tune.

It is fine for a daily driver, go for it.
