How hard is it to swap these two factory radios? The 500 is out of an 07 GT. The 1000 is out of a 09 Bullitt with Sirius.

It'll bolt right in..no problem.

The problem is you will loose all your low end. The Shaker 1000 has additional amps and the subs in the trunk. A Shaker 500 equiped car does not have the wiring in it (that I've heard) for a simple install. You will need to acquire the correct harness and of course the amps and sub box.

I'm sure there is a way to wire it up manually...haven't seen a write up on that though.

i had a base sngl cd stereo and picked up a shaker 1000 hu. easy swap and it works just great with no subs or amps. the shaker options can be turned on and off on the stereo. i picked up 2 frt amps and hope to install some door subs next. i need to find plugs and wires myself. i could be wrong but i think the frt amps and subs are the same for the 500 and 1000. the shaker 1000 though can have the rear amps for the deck and sub cabinet in the trunk and has the additional plugs in the rear of the stereo.

There is not much difference in the 2.

I believe the wiring should be the same as in the 1000 connects to one plug in the trunk. That plug runs all 4 amps in the system (2 for the doors, and 2 for the subs). The high end speakers are ran from the radio.

I could be wrong, but while working in the trunk this weekend I found several unused connectors in the passenger side area that appear to be for the Shaker 1000 sub. There was a larger rectangular multi-pin connector just to the left of the passenger side tail lamp housing, along with 2 separate smaller ones along the inner fenderwell. My car is a factory Shaker 500 with satellite and not sure what else might use those connectors.

client of mine has a '11 with shaker 1000, glass roof, heated seats, etc

I was going to add seat heaters to my car, and use stock buttons to control them. But the buttons on a 1000 are totally different. Are there seat heater buttons to go into the blank spots on a 500 HU? that would be one of the only real reasons I would want to switch, multi-disc would be nice and the display would be kinda cool, but I miss my seat heaters
