Shelby is going in for paint

The shelby is going in on monday to have the stripes removed, and painted on. Going to get new clearcoat too. Having the bumpers repainted too because they are not matched very well from shelby.

The body shop quoted me 2500 and we agreed on 2200 cash. Sound about right?

-Remove stripes
-prep
-Paint bumpers
-Paint stripes
-Clearcoat

I paid $1100 To have my Cervinis hood prepped as well as stripes painted & clearcoated. I suppose that sounds like a good deal since you're having your bumpers done as well.

I wish I would have went to a different body shop, paid a little more, and gotten a much better quality job done. But I guess you live and learn...

Also I think the price of $2,200 you received may be high. Seems the Shelby guys on the Shelby forums are able to get them painted on somewhere around $1,500.

Thats way to high. The best painter in my area does it for a little over $1000 and frequently does specials for car guys at $850 and he buries them in clearcoat.

That's about right. Paint work isn't cheap. You're having the stripes painted on too, so that's actually a damn good price.

I think that's a fair price. A buddy of mine owns a shop and he usually gets 500 a panel to paint.

so on stripes you have 5 panels to paint. 2 bumpers in full and then clear the whole car.

I think it's a fair price also. Most of the time you get what you pay for and in this case you want a quality job done right the first time.

I paid $1800 cash for stripes and clear coat to a friend of the family. No side stripes. They were baked in an oven also.

You get what you pay for. I am sure they will prep the whole car before they clear it. Are they going to blend the front/rear bumpers with the car? Its cheap to get a bumper sprayed, but it costs more to do it right and get it blended with the rest of the car. $2,200 is a fair price IF they are not cutting any corners and the car looks great when its all done..

The bumpers are terribly matched from Shelby. They are going to blend the bumpers.
This is a good shop. I think they will do a good job. Will only know when it's done. Thanks for the input mates.

There is a guy that does custom paint jobs in my area...He charges $50 per hour. So that would mean my guy would have 44 hours wrapped up in that. I doubt its going to take that much time to do that...Of course different shops have different quality. I would go to other 'reputable' shops and get pricing. Dont be afraid to go to custom shops. They may seem more, but sometimes you can get a better deal and have people who actually care about the quality of the paint.
