Should BMR make an axle tube brace for the S197?

I like the Pinion Angle to be set the same, 1-piece or 2-piece.

No math. That is why people suck at setting pinion angle.

I measure the pinion flange against the crank damper.

If the D/S is in the car, I usually do and recommend the same.

where do you put the angle finder if the D/S is in the car? i had taken the D/S off to do it and use a digital protractor but is a pain in the ass to remove the D/S until i get the engle i want or i need.

Do you recomend put it right under the U joint of the D/S in close by the rear end?

As was just posted, and says in that drawing, you can use the crank damper.

On the rear end side, there is a flat machined spot you can use on the flange.

+1. I think a pic would go a long way to show where to place the angle finder on the pinion flange. I would post a pic but the car is at my shop.....

I tried to use a circular flat pin right in the u joint but it moves. I am not sure where The flat spot in the flange is or maybe my flange is different because of my d/s but I never found one good enough to keep the angle finder stable.

When I have the car back up in the air, I will snap a pic. You have to hold the angle reading device somewhat firm against it, it is a small spot.

We made this piece in 04/05 for our 2005 Mustang we built way back..

When we decided recently to go ahead and offer this piece, we could not find our original info/jig....so apparently our design guy decided to go ahead and re-make it. lol

Our "design guy" is the founder of BMR. He is about as good as they come with development and design. Form and function!

Not sure how many of these we will sell, but, it can't hurt to offer more chassis and suspension parts for this car than anyone on the planet!

And yes, we are still rocking the OEM Driveshaft....lol

Thanks a lot. I will have to check mine because I had to change the flange for the one piece aluminum drive shaft I brave. I hope is the same style which I think it looks like the same.

Just to be sure, doesn't that area with the paint on the flange have taper to it?

I take a piece of square tubing, place it on the edge of the flange and attach the angle finder to that.

It has a taper on the outer edge. There is about 3/4" of perfect flat to use.

I'll check on my car tomorrow but last I recall the area with the paint spot is tapered and will throw off measurements by 2*. I'll post some pics to confirm.

That area with paint is flat. You have to hold the angle finder real tight against it because like was stated, it's only about 3/4".

Interesting statement about measuring the same way with the two piece. I thought the back half of the DS had to be used.
