Sirius Radio option

I have a 2008 Shaker 1000 car with Sirius radio. I just bought another 2008 Shaker 1000 car that does not have Sirius radio. I’ve had satellite radio for so long that I had forgotten how lousy the local FM stations are in my area.

I would like to keep the factory shaker 1000 head unit in the new car. What are my options for adding satellite to it? I like how the new car looks without the satellite antenna on the trunk.

Would it be worthwhile to swap parts from one car to the other. Can a factory antenna be mounted somewhere else?

Thanks for moving my post where nobody will see it.
I wouldn't go that far...I think most people (like me) us the "new posts" function and yours was the first on the list.

Having said that, here's a bump and a similar situation. I know back in the day you could get a Sirius-specific device, that utilized the existing sound system (IIRC it plugged into the AUX jack, like an iPod), but you are correct, that you'd have to add the satellite antenna.

My issue is I'm looking to replace my Shaker500 *with* Sirius, since the 6-disc crapped out, like they all do. So going with a different head unit that supports backup camera as well. My question is whether the Sirius account is linked to the VIN, or radio ID. If radio ID, how do you transfer it to a different head unit.

A quality reputable local stereo shop can do about anything you want with a sound system. If your good with electronics then Crutchfield has some good stuff.

I use the Sirius app on my iPhone and connect to the aux in. I'm no an audiophile but sounds good to me.

thanks for abiding by board rules and placing the post in the correct sub-forum to begin with

Sorry if I violated any rules. I joined 17 years ago. I must have missed that terms and rules update from 2017.

Lemme help. You need the Sirius XM module that sits in the passenger trunk well, and the accompanying trunk wart. That, and the harness that runs from the module plugs directly into the Shaker 1000 headunit. So yes, its possible and basically plug and play. Find a mustang dismantler and buy the trunk wart, it's GPS style antenna cable, and the Sirius module and bracket for the trunk, and lastly, the harness that runs directly to the Shaker 1000 radio. That'll do ya

Thought I might as well provide an update.

My car without satellite radio had a broken cd player. I removed the head unit so I could take a look at the cd player.
I took the head unit from the car with satellite radio which had a working cd player and swapped it into the other car.
I repaired the cd player and put that head unit into the car with satellite radio. The satellite radio still worked, so I knew the module is not married to the head unit.
I took the satellite module from the car with the functioning satellite radio and put it in the car without satellite. The harness that connects to the module was there, but there was no antenna cable. I plugged the harness into the module and mounted it in the factory location. I ended up buying an antenna and cable for an 08 Escape on Ebay since I didn’t want an exposed hole in the trunk of the other car. I bought the Escape antenna because it was the cheapest one on eBay, but I’m sure several Fords share the same connectors and antennas. I have the antenna inside the car just sitting on the package tray by the rear seat right now. I wanted to make sure it worked before I got too carried away finding a permanent place for it. I have not had any reception issues with it how it is right now.
I bought a satellite module from an 08 Mustang off eBay and put it in the car that I took the module from so it would still be capable. After hooking everything up it turns out the service is still active. Maybe I got lucky and got a module with a lifetime subscription.

Hope this helps anybody looking to do something similar

I see you already got your Sirius XM module but if anyone else needs one I have one. Free to a good home (just get me a label to put on the box.) I no longer have my shaker unit after getting the dreaded B1342 ECU and B2477 CONFIG errors.)

I went with a Dynavin 9. Not a HUGE fan, terrible audio quality, but no SXM option. Oh well.

I'm about to upgrade my dead six-disc Shaker 500 (w/ Sirius), so will probably need one....
