Don't be hatin on me Keeno! I missed 3rd on that run too, but I shifted before you since I have 4.10s. That's when you caught me, lol! If I wouldnt have missed that gear I would have run 12s(I ran a 13.1 @ 106). But it was my first time at the track so I was pretty happy.
I didnt know you missed 3rd on our last pass and still got a 13.1...?!

Lose those heavy ass rims, get a better CAI and some gears. You'll run high 12s

I believe the cai I have is one of the best flowing units out there. I am however running the insert which reduces the maf opening. I emailed Airaid, they said to NOT remove the insert unless I had a wildly built engine they said the maf opening with the insert removed is way too big for anything less than a hugely modified engine. My tuner actually has a tune titled "Airaid CAI with insert removed" I'm kinda scared to remove the insert and try it.

The insert makes it no better than the stock intake.
we run 95mm MAF housings round here pal!
I don't have a 'wildy' modified engine and the C&L racer is the shit for me.

I would take it out and try the tune, you're not flowing any more than the stock intake with the insert all you're doing is making the path smoother MAYBE 2-3hp. I've tried other stuff I'm not coming out of left field lol. If I can run 12.8's with my mods you should be the same or better with a proper uncorked intake tune and 3.55's.

Keeno, I would definitely take that insert out and run the other tune. The JLT that most guys run is bigger than your Airaid and it has never caused any problems. My K&N is the same size as the stock too so it really isn't any better either. If I hadn't already bought the Procharger I would definitely be getting a JLT.

Yeah, you dont remember me telling you that? Remember, I launched at 4k and got the good 60' and I was shifting at 6800 but then I missed 3rd. My previous 13.1 was only at 104, that one was @ 106.5 with the missed shift. I am sure I would have a 12.9x if not for the missed shift. :hammer:

I may try it. I'm actually running a 91 octane C&L street cai tune now. So I'm not sure how much difference there is in the maf opening of the c&l street and my airaid with the insert. I get a cel every once in a while saying bank 1 and 2 rich. the tune is for a larger opening than I'm actually running so that may be a problem also.

That info would have been nice to know earlier on lol.
You're running a tune made for another MAF size.
who told you that was OK? these cars are really sensitive to stuff like that.

Stock: 80mm
C&L street: 83mm

The Airaid with out the insert is the same size as the JLT: 110mm. It's pretty big but it'll work a hell of a lot better than the stock size Maf. Remove the insert and get it retuned and you'll see a 15+ hp/tq gain. Should be good for 12's then

With no mechanical changes, the car will run a twelve with a better launch. Drop the 60' time about .08 from the 60' on your best pass and you should have a 12.9x pass.

You need to leave with a higher rpm and slip the clutch so the motor doesn't bog like it did in the video. That should easily give you your 12.

Add some crisp powershifts to that and you're looking at 12.70s.

Does the car have Roush control arms?

I run the Roush CAI, which is the same as your intake. I never installed the insert and had Brenspeed give me a tune that utilized that larger opening. I've run my car for the past 5,000 miles with no issues what so ever. Airaid probably told you to run with the insert for CYA purposes. If you get someone to tune your car properly (like Brenspeed, Bama, BBR, etc.) you'll have no issues taking the insert out.

so you had an airraid with an insert that didn't need a tune for minimal gains, then you bought a c&L street that doesnt' need a tune for minimal gains... why? yeah if you still have the airraid pull the insert and run that tune for no insert.

No, he has an airaid intake with a stock size insert and he is running a c&L street cai tune for it.

No I didnt buy a C&L street intake.....My used Diablosport has a C&L 91 octane street tune loaded in it, so I loaded that after installing the Roush/Airaid intake. I figured that would be better than running the stock tune. I wasnt sure what the difference in the opening size of the Airaid with insert vs a C&L street was.
The same Diablosport has an Airaid with insert removed tune in it also. I was worried with running without the insert so I havent used that tune.
I knew the Airaid had one of the largest openings with the insert out.... 110mm

No, Stage 1 has stock GT suspension. I have added Prokit springs but thats it.

Well, some good quality rear control arms would certainly help your traction situation. I still say the car will run in the 12s with practice though.

Well with a good prepped track I hook pretty well...didnt have any traction issues on the day I ran the 13.1..

I think I will pull out the reducer try the "no reducer" tune I already have and see how that affects driveability. This is my DD also. Ya'll think I will loose torque down low with a 110mm maf opening?

No...but only if you have a tune specific for those specs...it's not a one tune fits all intakes kind of mentality. I'd personally have a reputable tuner give you a tune specific for the 110mm opening of the Airaid.
