Not sure what you were hearing but mine started to have a knock when it was warm and on a restart. Could not ever get it to do this on a cold start. The dealership was able to duplicate it. The performed a TSB regarding the chain tensionors. I have had is back a week now and the noise is now gone.

I have a knocking at the rear of the oil pan when the engine is at idle and hot. It's a loud knock that you can hear inside the car. On a lift at the Dealer it's more noticeable
at the rear of the oil pan.

The Tech at the Dealer cut off the a/c belt and the noise went away. Put a new belt on and the noise came back. I'm happy that it's not an internal problem.

Yes it was and it sounded like the engine was about to throw a rod. If it happens to you then you will shit just like I did. I didn't want to post about it until I knew what the noise was. It's amazing to me that an a/c belt can make a knocking noise at the rear of the crank.

TheReaper,

I remember reading about this some months ago. Found this on F150forum.com:

tsb 11-7-1
5.0l—lower end engine knock at hot idle— built on or before 2/14/2011

Glad its fixed for you.

My car had the same thing from the day I picked it up, it sounded like main bearing knock and if you put your hand on the valve cover you could feel it. After searching around and talking to someone who had a clue they said right away - AC belt.

I didnt believe it, since I was putting a blower on the car I didnt want to take a chance with an engine issue so before I installed the blower I cut off the AC belt - and the noise was 100% gone. You would have swore it was something serious and not caused by a belt up front. Since the Roush SC uses a spring tensioner on the AC belt the noise never returned either.

Hello all,

Same problem here. Here is a YouTube video I found. Is this the problem you guys are talkin' about? This is the problem I am having. The Ford guys can't figure it out thus far. This guy has the same problem I have. Ford told him it is "Normal" for the 5.0 to sound like this. I don't think it sounds normal at all. I have no mods, with all the #8 blow-ups I hear, and probally I won't get any. Please see the YT video and comment back. Any help will be great!

Ok, one noise is solved. Can you guys help me with this one. Not my car but the same noise and mine is coming from passenger side. I noticed after second oil change as well, it could've been there before but I didn't notice until about a month after second oil change.
