I purchased a spec stage 2 clutch kit three years ago before I had heard anything bad about them. I went off of the 599 ft. lbs. torque holding capacity. I figured it was a good all-around clutch for the money. I have heard a few bad things about them since then. My question is has anyone had a good experience with this clutch? I mean broken in properly before beating the shit out of it. Any info would be helpful. I just want to know if I am fucked...

use the search?

the 2+ was the notoriously bad one. the 2 seems to have been ok as I recall. not too many people use the 2 as it's less street friendly.

I had the 2+ for a short while, absolute shit for me. I could not shift at high rpm for anything. Spec of course blamed install on the reason for the problems.

Hopefully you have good luck with the stage 2

I had 2+ and hated it. It had good holding power but was the worst when it came to shifting.

Being a member here for as long as I have been, I ALWAYS SEARCH FIRST. Trust me I used the search. I thought the 2+ was the good one. My mistake. I have not heard anything good about the 2. I have been waiting for my stock unit to die, but it is holding on ok. It is just now starting to slip a little. I thought that the stage 2 had release issues, and I have seen just recently one got fried at the strip in only a couple of passes.

I've got the stage 2 and it's fine on the street. At the track my car seems to not want to shift gears very fast. I don't know if that's my shifter sucking, or the shifter.

I have the Spec 2. Before I installed it, I never missed 3rd gear even powershifting like an animal. Now I have to granny shift 3rd. Sucks. McLeod twin disc going in when I've finally had enough of this one.

This is exactly what I was talking about, this clutch has trouble disengaging when shifting fast. I had heard of this problem before. I would like to know if the throw out bearing is the issue, or if it is indeed the clutch causing the difficulties. I still have the stock clutch and powershifting third has always been a pipe dream. This is the only car I have ever driven that makes me feel like a first time driver when shifting fast. I just dont want to go from bad to worse.
