I just installed the koni str.t shocks and struts with Roush springs and steeds hd strut mounts. Does anyone know the torque specs are on the four bolts that hold the strut mount to the strut tower? I know stock is 26 ft lbs but just wondering if anyone has a definitive answer.

That's it. 26ft/lbs and then I go a smidge further once I hit that torque. I did that because they worked lose after a drive after install.... along with the top strut mount.

8. Reinstall the strut assembly following the factory installation procedures.

Based on this I would imagine that includes Torque Spec also!

True but I just checked my instructions included with the plates vs the pdf instructions on steeda website http://www.steeda.com/store/uploads/555-8120-1.pdf and it looks like they have updated the instructions to include 45 ft lbs on the strut mount nuts. Check step number 10. So i guess that answered my question and shed some light on what I thought was torque to factory spec.

Damn I did factory 26ftlb. Guess I need to tighten them. Maybe that's why they were loose after the drive.

Don't forget the big center nut (which gets hidden by the steeda press on logo cap). It's 46 ft lbs.

7.
Torque the upper strut nut to 46 ft lbs.

I had these squeaking noises coming from drivers side..when driving really slow over speed bumps. Drove me nuts. The upper strut nut was not tight enough !

Hopefully the steeda bolts are stronger than the factory ones. Ive seen factory ones break at 26ft lbs.

Yea idk about that 46lb-ft on those little bolts...
I did tighten my strut nut with an impact though lol.
But 25ft-lbs on the 4 little bolts for me.

Just a word of advice; blue Loctite on EVERY bolt on a Mustang suspension. Swapped my OEM stuff on my 2010 for Konis with Steeda upper mounts, and I had both swaybar endlink nuts (strut side) come loose during aggressive drives (not catastrophically or anything, just started hearing knocking), along with a couple of the upper nuts on the Steeda plates. Seem to recall torqueing those to 46ft-lbs too, but not 100% sure on that. Regardless, blue Loctite is your friend. Never had issues after using it.

I got a strut tower brace coming and when I install it I will add some loctite to those bolts for good measure. Also after 100 miles or so I will recheck the torque on everything. Good tip btw

I'm inclined to agree. 45 ft lbs on those 4 x little bolts is asking for trouble. You will most likely end up stretching the threads. I used 26 ft lbs.
46 ft lbs on the main strut bolt is fine.

Blue loctite is the real answer..for all suspension parts.

Interesting to note re: stuff like....... "never seize"....also made by loctite corp. I use never seize on wheel studs and other applications. The TQ requirement drop way down..typ 60% of what is used "dry". There is a big difference between TQ..and Tightness.

Check out astm specs and sae specs for bolts. They will list a dry TQ..and a wet TQ. Dunno if blue loctite qualify's as a lubricant for threaded fasteners or not. Heck, it's goopy when 1st applied to the threads.

You understand that those four little bolts are not the same as the ones that came stock right? Could be different grade.

EDIT- I'll send an email to Steeda for clarification. No sense in guessing.

Definitely what I'd do, and I'm interested to hear their response. I have a set that I haven't installed yet. I got them because I just sheared off one of the GT500 mount bolts just trying to torque it down tight without using a torque wrench like a fucking moron.

Are the 4 bolts on the steeda piece stuck into the plate in a different way?
the stock has little splined pressed if it's pressed in from the bottom. what if it turns and strips the splines in the plate? i'd say you're really fucked at that point.

No it is welded from the bottom. Even though this is the one for the 11 and up model the studs are welded the same way.

That is why I chose the steeda's. From handling the J&M and MM ones I felt the steedas were the most suitable for long term street use.

Oh ok... better I still don't see the need for 46lbs on those little screws.
Loctite 25ft-lbs should be just fine.
