Ugh. Of course. Week and half before American muscle car show.

So I'm driving home last night. In 3rd gear going 25mph.

Pull up to my parking spot with clutch in while still in 3rd, go to reverse. Reverse lights come on, slowly let out the clutch.... Aaaand the car starts creeping forward -_-

Anyways, I just let it roll into the parking spot while clutch is still pressed in.

Today I get in the car, play with the shifter. I cannot move over to 1-2 gear or go to 4th gear or reverse now. But I can go into 3rd and 5th. BUT.... It's stuck in 3rd. So even if I move to 5th.... It's in 3rd lol. How do I know? Because I just tried driving it to see what gear it's stuck in lol.

I'm confused considering I do not power shift or even grind gears to break anything. A transmission specialists over the phone says to get a mallet and just beat on the bottom. Maybe something will get "unstuck". Yea.....

So I've jacked the car up. Checked all shifter linkage. Everything looks good. I did NOT hit the transmission with a mallet lol.

Suggestions? Should I drop the clutch at like 3k to shake it? Lol

Any unusual slop in the shifter at all? Hopefully it's just a bolt that fell out of the shifter assembly somewhere.

Nope. I have MGW and it's tight as can be. Checked all bolts too

Internal. My guess would be broken shift fork. You won't know shit 'til you get under there and (most likely) pull the tranny out. Now may be the time to consider a 6060/T-56 swap. A 3650 rebuild won't be cost effective in the long-run if you decide to make more power. Although ProMotion does build "700hp-1,000hp" capable 3650's now. I've never really liked the feel of the 3650 personally, the 6060 feels more smooth, less slop, and better gearing IMO. But they do have just replacement 3650's if a 6060 or similar swap isn't in the budget.

Though ProMotion does have one, the better option is the gear set that G-Force offers. In fact, when I had a ProMotion in my '99 Stang, they got may their gears from G-Force.

This is the transmission I'm running and it's damn good. When I went with it, the cost was somewhere in the $1K range and installed the upgrade myself into the casing. Don't know what it runs these days.

Yea I was guessing shift fork too.

Tranny I already pulled out today. I'll put but extra one in tomorrow and I'll crack open this one this weekend

For $1k it'd almost be worth a DIY project. But I'd have to do it on a spare 3650. I've only seen a 3650 torn down once, and it's a rather intimidating rebuild process to me. I did a input shaft on my buddies T-56. That's about as deep as I've ever been in tranny guts lol.

Swapped out the transmission yesterday. Took about 5 hours.

I'll do a teardown this week with pictures

Montreal Qc,
I broke the input shaft in my original last year.
Thankfully I had a spare also.
I'm worried now that I don't have a spare trans and at the moment I'm about to start an engine build.
This wouldn't be a good time to break another transmission.
