Stupid PC question

So I haven't had a car I've liked in several years...now that I do, I want to get rid of some mild to light swirl marks on black.

I've got a PC and the following products
Optimum Polish II, Compound II and Poli-Seal
LC CSS pads (orange, white, blue, red)

I remember I need to wash, clay and then tape off the car...and I remember to start the PC off low (like #2) to get the product covered in the working area...then bump it up to about 5.5 - 6.

What I can't remember is what product with what pads.

Correct me if I'm wrong here:
Orange pad with the Compound first.
White pad with the polish
Red pad with the poli-seal.

Then wax

Am I correct in what I'm remembering here?

Thanks in advance. I've gotten a bit rusty with what I remember with my detailing skills.

red + sealant

I always like to do a test spot before going on to the full car. Tape off a 1 foot square and try out the white pad and polish and see what the results are. you may not necessarily need to go all the way to the orange/compound combo. If the white/polish does not do the trick, go to the orange/compound then finish with the white/polish and check the results.

Wash, clay, wash, compound/polish (tape if needed), ipa wipe down and wash, seal, wax (optional)

Be sure to take some before and after shots and good luck.

OK, cool. I was planning on running a test spot first....but wanted to be sure of the process before I jumped on it this weekend (if I can finish cleaning out the last little bit of my garage )

I'm going to check the car in a little better lighting tonight. I don't think the swirls are that bad so I may hit it with the compound and white pad first like mentioned above and see what results I get.
If I can get away with that then I'll hit it with the polish/white pad and poli-seal/red pad.

using a compound with a white pad may not break down the abrasives properly. You will still need to go back over the car with a finishing polish, especially on black.

Sorry, Compound, Polish, Poly-Seal is the progression I'll be using. Think I may have been a little unclear.

I just may not use the orange pad unless I find it necessary after doing a test spot with the white pad.

Update.

Well, apparently all of my compound, polish and sealant listed in this thread went bad. All very watery/runny and now that the car is in day light (horrible lighting in the garage) I see where the compound was slung all over the place....pretty pissed about this, honestly. While I did go ahead and do all of the top surfaces and there was improvement....it's not what it should be. I decided to just put a coat of natty's blue on it and call it a night.

I'll be ordering some more Optima or looking into some other products to work with. I only have two cars and don't have to run the PC on them all the time, so I don't really need as much product as what I had....so having it turn to shit after a period of time is just a waste of money. I think I may have used 1/4 of what I had....now it's junk.

Anyways...car looks good but I'm going to have to get some more product before I can say with confidence it looks great.

Try some Meguiar's M105 & M205 then seal with Chemical Guys Black Light...

I appreciate it. I haven't been a fan of Meguiar's for some time now. Not saying it's crap...just have gotten better results from other products.

I may check out the Chemical Guys Black Light to replace the Opti-Seal though. We'll see...
I'm probably going to pick up some more Optima Product though...just in smaller quantity.

My first try with the PC was only the hood and trunk/spoiler about 6 weeks ago, I used M105 & M205 then followed up with the Black Light...came out pretty dam good if you ask me. I'm actually planning to do the entire car next weekend. I also have some Menzerna P085 that I'm going to try out. The Black Light with the CG V7 spray is amazing, especially for black...

Yeah...sorry, my head was up my @ss a bit....yes, Poli Seal is what I have and may replace with Black Light to seal the car.

Thats what happens when you drive a minivan you didn't even wash for 2 years....I guess.
