I have an autometer temp gauge and an extra sending unit.

My idea is to mount 1 sending unit before the Heat exchanger and 1 after. I would have a SPDT switch so I can go between the 2 sending units.

An led would be used for the in side (red) so that I could keep track of which one it is on.

Any thoughts on this or am I just farting in church??

Sounds cool. It would work with that switch.
It will give you a snap shot of how well your heat exchanger is working.

Of course it would work. I did this on my Lightning five years ago - go for it.

i did the same thing one sending for the engine and one for the heat exhanger... the problem was that the guage would read the 210 temp of the engine but the temp on the heat exchanger was alway a little above 100 degress.... i replaced the auto meter guage with a cyberdyne digital guage that reads from 70/250 works a lot better now
