Thinking about buying a CDC classic or MMD chin spoiler

A chin spoiler is not something I would normally do but I have extenuating circumstances. I was doing 45 MPH and a fricken raccoon ran right in my path. The good news is that the raccoon didn't suffer. The bad news is my front bumper cover did.

The bottom of my bumper is cracked and hanging down. I taped it back up so it's back in the right shape but the tape looks terrible. A new front bumper cover painted to match my Vista blue would easily run me $500 give or take. I was thinking a cheaper fix would be a chin spoiler.

This should cover up where it's cracked on the bottom and give it support to hold it in place without tape. I have black rims and a black antenna so I'm thinking leaving the chin spoiler black should look ok with the little black on blue theme I have going.

The MMD is less expensive but a lot of people seem to like the CDC classic. So I guess my questions are:

1). Does this sound like a good solution to the cracked bumper problem?

2). Is it worth the extra $30 to get the CDC classic over the MMD?

What you cant see wont hurt you. Better than forking over 500 bucks. I like chin spoilers and black with your color would look nice. I want one myself. good luck

I have the cdc spoiler on my 2010. ( they only make one version for the 2010-2012)
It comes with brake duct holes recessed on each side. So after the fact, installed the cdc optional brake duct kit, which consisted of 2.5" silicone brake hoses + new 14" dust shields, with the mating 2.5" tube welded to the brake shield. Works good. Came with an offset on pass side, to get below the oem windshield washer fluid bottle. It's now advertised as using 3" hoses.

I use 10" deep dish bullitt wheels which won't clear 14" brembo's....so retained the oem 12.4" brakes, but swapped to slotted 12.4" rotors + SS brake lines and ATE-blue brake fluid.... + HPS pads. Same deal for rear brakes, oem size rotors, except slotted, ss lines. The fronts never heat up, if beaten on. Dunno if either version of the cdc spoiler on the 05-09 cars has the brake duct option. Even if it doesn't, it's a quality item.

1. Yes this should work. But before I put the chin spoiler on I would fix the cracks. Use relatively thin aluminum sheet, cut a piece to cover the crack and pop rivet in place on the back side.

2. Yes i think so, but i'm biased because i have a cdc classic

I've had both. Right now I have the MMD and personally I like it better. It looks more like something that was stock and gives a little more clearance. That being said, it is hard plastic vs the flexible plastic of the CDC. Nudge a curb with the CDC and it bends until you back off. Nudging it with the MMD may crack it. Either one looks good and will cover your bumper.

Since the stock cover is broken, you may want to get a piece of plastic and pop rivet it in place on the back side to "repair" the crack, then put the chin spoiler on. I wouldn't count on the spoiler tape for any real support. i have the painted CDC and could be happier with the fit.

Thanks for this information. This actually makes the decision of which to get easier. I'm going to go with the CDC since the material is a little more flexible/forgiving.
