I just received an email from Paul and he is moving forward for my company, Mad Motorsports, to be a vendor of Tiger Racing.
Secondly, my application is in with Kimmer (site owner) to be a site sponsor.
My offer on the hoods is contingent on both items above.

Great news! I am officially a dealer of Tiger Racing. I will be finalizing the ordering procedure with Paul today. I will PM anyone who has indicated they are interested in a hood and we can get the process moving.

I will try to get any questions answered by Paul, including lead time on th e hoods and final pricing.

Please do. I was talking with Paul directly (nothing yet on availability or cost), but I'm happy to help get your group buy moving.

Capt, who are you going to have paint yours? Are you going with the carbon or fiberglass?

I'm not sure. Either same people that did ArizonaGT's, or Phoenix Collision and Custom Paint (an Audi guy, but does good work and his prices are killer.)

Now I have to decide on the schema:

All yellow
Yellow with 2012 Boss style black center
Yellow with black vents only
Yellow with center black only
Yellow with 2013 Stripe
Black, etc.

Decisions, decisions... I like the yellow with black vents idea.
Mine should be easy.. ummm, black will do! But maybe I'll get crazy and do matte black on the vents, lol!
Let me know who you decide to go with for the painting. Maybe they could do some kind of deal if we both bring them there.. who knows.

Paul Brown's comments on Carbon Fiber

Directly from Paul:

We will never offer the carbon hoods in a show or carbon look finish. You cannot keep the weave in line with all the contours of the louvers. The carbon look hoods on the market are a single layer of carbon over heavy fiberglass parts with tons of clear to avoid the blemishes and fill the holes. Carbon fiber actually breaks down in sunlight and looses strength, when was the last time you saw an Indy, F1 or ALMS car race in natural carbon finish, they don't. Maybe for a test of pictures, but not in the real world for use.

Our hoods are hand laid and we go through great lengths to remove all excess resign in the carbon hoods to keep the weight down. This is the reason the carbon hoods may show more imperfections or even the weave and ghosting of the frame from below. This is normal with real carbon parts even with Ferrari. There are a couple more steps that we can take to make a perfect carbon hood like in preprag, however they would then be in the $4000 range.

Basically, the CF pieces are race pieces...

If you're talking about a vinyl wrap with carbon print, then it will "work," but you're likely to still see any surface imperfections (at least at some angles). That's probably fine for a race piece. I've considered something similar for some of my projects.

The real question is if spiffing up a non-show piece is going to serve your interests or not.

Best,
