Took a lil break but im back.....Need some advice

Hey everybody. Well I sold my vortech 08 gt and left the forum about two years ago because the 3v 4.6 just wasnt cutting it for me over here in Germany. Since then I have had the following cars: 2007 335i, C6 Corvette, e46 M3, and now a 135i. Im leaving Germany in Oct of this year and my next duty station will be Hawaii.

Im getting ready to order/build a 2012' 5.0 and having it waiting for me when I get to Hawaii. Ive crammed in as much research as I can so far on the 5.0 but ive been out of the Mustang game alot longer than I thought, lol. My questions are?

- Im not sure what type of forced induction I will go with when the time comes but im leaning towards turbo at the moment. What gears would be best to order with the car? Im guessing 3.55 just in case I dont go turbo??

- With the MT 82 issues im reading about, its scary choosing the MT6 but I just cant bare to think about driving an auto. It literally makes me cringe!

- Are the Brembo's REALLY worth it??? I would like to order them but I feel like it would limit my wheel options further down the road with having to watch out for different offsets.

- Nitrous. I still have a complete dry nitrous kit that I used on my C6 with all the goodies( DT controller, warmer, opener, purge, bla bla bla). How much is safe for the 5.0 to spray without a tune??

As much as I love turbo, The turbo kits that are available now leave a lot to be desired IMHO. If you want to go F/I asap I would suggest a twin screw, or wait for more optimized turbo kits to come along.

Im not sure about gear choice. I think it would depends greatly on how much drag racing you plan on doing, whether or not you'll use slicks, etc.
Hopefully one of these drag racer guys will chime in.

Many of the issues with the MT were with the early 2011 cars, and I feel that a lot of it is fearful speculation. I wouldnt be afraid to go for the manual.

The Brembos are only worth it if you have tires to take advantage of them, which most people dont. The stock brakes are not that bad, but if you plan on any road racing I would wither spring for them or plan up doing an aftermarket BBK.

You cant spray any dry nitrous without a tune, you need fuel enrichment.

Get the Hellion Kit and also get the Auto Tranny . Nothing else to really talk about . There is nothing better then a Turbo Automatic Car !

For what I've seen so far the turbo kit I like the most is powerhouse's.

I've installed alot of F/I kits over the last year on the 5.0's. They all have their advantages and disadvantages.

The FRPP/Roush kits are very nice, fit and finish is great, and make great power. We have a customer that has been 9.8's with the FRPP kit with stock motor and stock auto.

The KB kit is nice, though some cutting is required, but you make some big power.

My favorite power wise is the ProCharger kit, and we have stuffed a couple F1's onto the 5.0 and made big power. One car made 750 to the tire, stock motor/trans/fuel system.

I havent really liked what I have see with the turbo kits out there, Hellion is still using the low mounted turbo option, which I am very leery of with the scavenging pump. I actually havent seen the Powerhouse option yet, so I can't even comment there.

Congrats on getting back into a Mustang.

As far as the Brembo package goes, I chose not to get it. It rides rougher than the normal suspension. Some guys even complain that there is some "bounce back" on the rear as you go over bumps. I too had the same concern about the wheel options. I don't road race so I didn't really feel I needed the bigger brakes/upgraded suspension. Hell, the brakes on my '06 are really good as far as I am concerned and I gotta believe that the new ones are at least as good so good enough for me.

A big thanks to all the input/opinions thus far!!!

Im still having a hard time deciding what package and options I like. I would like to order the basic coupe but it seems that there arent crap for options to choose from unless you choose the 400a or 401a packages. It almost seems like Ford forces people to choose the premium with the 300a being packaged like a stripper.

I think im going to pass on the Brembos at this point though.

Dont be ridiculous, what good is going fast when you can't stop. Brembos are cheap and effective, they also look great behind wheels.

The Brembo package is a great bang for the buck package.

Amazing brakes with great looking wheels.

I'm not convinced the "tuned" suspension is worth a damn. I replaced all of it within a couple of months.

Mine is a 400A, Brembos, and 3.73's.

The bare essentials.

Heated seats, electronic package, rear camera, HID's would have been nice, but I grabbed one off the lot that met everything I "needed".

As of now, I plan on running a Stage 2 Procharger. I'll consider the Powerhouse when it's released, but if I was pulling the trigger today, it'd be Procharger.

Just because your tire cant take full advantage of the Brembos doesnt mean that they wont be way better than stock brakes on the street, ive had both and you DO feel a big difference when you need to slam the brakes and you dont have much room to slow down.

Its not like he's spending 6k for an 8 piston carbon ceramic brake set up...

Brebmos i had on my 07 GT were quiet, on the other handm the Saleen/Stoptech's i have are noisy as hell!!

They may feel better, but if the tire is the limiting factor in traction, which it usually is, they wont stop the car any faster. The real reason for them is that since they are bigger they wont heat up and fade as easily.
If youre road racing and are going to have R compounds on all 4 corners, then the big brakes are important, on a street car not so much.

Sounds to me like the OP is trying to be on a budget, which is why hes bothering to ask about the big brakes.

I get the occasional squeak. It's not that often at all.

My '05 with R1 Concepts slotted and drilled rotors, Hawk HPS pads, and Earl's SS Lines squeak a bit more than these.
