TPMS troubles

I searched and I couldn't find the answer to my problem. I bought a set of wheels and tires with sensors from American Muscle. I drove the car to work yesterday without syncing them before hand (didn't have time before work). So halfway to work the light went off for the fault. I got home and I followed the video to sync the sensors. I can get the car into learn mode just fine, but none of the sensors will sync. I press the button on the remote, and the red light lights up, but nothing happens. I tried it several times and every time it eventually just times out.

I rolled one of my stock wheels over to the car and started the sync process. It picked up the factory wheel almost immediately. So the TPMS tool I have works. I don't know if it matters or not, these wheels and tires sat for almost a month before I was able to get them mounted on the car. I put about 60 miles on them before I tried to sync them as well. Anybody have any idea what the deal is here?

Same thing here. Bought the AM rims and AM tpms sensors at the same time. Put them in the car, the light never came on so I left it. 50 miles later light came on so I tried programming them with the scanning tool from AM. NOTHING. $200 down the drain and I'm driving around with a tpms malfunction light. Thanks American Muscle.

I'll buy Ford tpms sensors and have them installed this weekend

I asked the dealer if they can just disable the tpms check in the ecu of the car. The service advisor wasn't sure if they could or not. Personally I'd rather just be rid of the system entirely.

It's not removable and even if it was, any dealer disabling it would be taking a huge liability risk. The tire shop I use here won't mount and install tires on these cars without ensuring that the TPMS system is installed and in working order before they give you the keys back. Courts have ruled that dealers and tire shops are experts and therefore should know better than to knowingly defeat a factory installed safety system. Owners are considered idiots (non-experts) and therefore their opinion/approval/request doesn't count.

If you have the right sensors the 2010 and up cars don't require the sync tool. I've had several sets of tires mounted on the 2011 GT I had and never had to sync them with the factory Ford sensors.

Supposedly the 2010+ sensors don't need the tool they'll just do it on their own..
So I'm not sure how you used the too, with the stock set.
I recently went through the whole BS of taking 2010 ones out of my tires and putting in 07-09 ones

Well they must have installed the wrong sensors then cause they aren't working at all. The only option I have at this point is to break down both sets of my tires and swap the sensors. Or buy a set of Ford sensors (I thought the AM ones were Fords, but I guess not) and get them installed. If that is the case then I want my $200 back I blew on these non working POS's I have now.

I just put the car in learn mode, used the TPMS tool, and it sync'd right up with the old sensor.

Did you wake the sensors up?

The first time I tried to sync them was about 10 minutes after I got home from work. When I tried again this morning I started the car up and rolled it back about ten feet then into the garage another 10 feet before I tried to sync them again.

Cycle the ignition switch from the OFF position to the RUN position 3 times, ending in the RUN position.
Press and release the brake pedal.
Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
Turn the ignition switch from the OFF position to the RUN position 3 times, ending in the RUN position.
The horn will sound once and the TPMS indicator will flash if the training mode has been entered successfully. If equipped, the message center will display TRAIN LF TIRE.
NOTE: It may take up to 6 seconds to activate a tire pressure sensor. During this time, the Tire Pressure Monitor Activation Tool must remain in place 180 degrees from the valve stem.

Place the Tire Pressure Monitor Activation Tool on the LF tire sidewall opposite (180 degrees) from the valve stem. Press and release the test button on the Tire Pressure Monitor Activation Tool. The horn will sound briefly to indicate that the tire pressure sensor has been recognized by the SJB.

Within 2 minutes of the horn sounding, place the Tire Pressure Monitor Activation Tool on the RF tire sidewall opposite (180 degrees) from the valve stem and press and release the test button to train the RF tire pressure sensor.

NOTE: Do not wait more than 2 minutes between training each sensor or the SJB will time out and the entire procedure must be repeated.

Repeat Step 7 for the RR and LR tires.
The procedure is completed after the last tire has been trained. When the training procedure is complete, the message center (if equipped) will display TIRE TRAINING COMPLETE.
For vehicles not equipped with a message center, successful completion of the training procedure will be verified by turning the ignition switch to the OFF position without the horn sounding. If the horn sounds twice when the switch is turned to the OFF position, the training procedure was not successful.

On my wife's 2010 Explorer after we had tires installed we got a message on the dash that said sync required. It then said to drive the truck in a circle to the left and then a circle to the right. After that the light went out and all was good. Might try this to see if it works.

You do the 180 degree thing when you have the band sensors (which I tried anyway despite having valve stem sensors). I know I am doing it right because I can sync the old wheels to the car with them sitting next to it with no problem.

Just put the 20" on the car
I can get the front two tires to learn
But the back 2 do nothing

AM sensors and the tool

I am trying diff air pressures to see if that works

Got them all to sync
We had to point the learning tool at the tire just below the stem on the 285/30/20 rears
Then Boom they took
Hope this helps someone else
