tr-6060 and KR shifter?

I am trying to put my kr shifter with the tr-6060 and it appears to be way to long and I will have to cut the kr-shifter legs and re-weld them to make it fit or cut a little bit out of the body. Anyone had a problem with this shifter?

I just cut 1/2 in. off the body... fits just fine

No what I meant was, whats the difference between the stock TR6060 shifter and the KR one.
