Got two, used, unlocked SCT X3 3000 model tuners here, and the X3 is a custom tune only type device.

$265 shipped USPS Priority mail for one and price is firm. Updated to latest firmware version from SCT and comes with USB cord to connect to your PC as well to install your custom tune.

What are the differences between the two SCT 3000 tuners? WHat do you mean by custom tune only? There are no preloaded SCT tunes on them? Sorry for so many questions, I need a programmer for my 08 and have been confused by this when shopping for one.

The X3 3000 is how you upload a custom tune, how well the vehicle runs is dependant on who writes the tune for you if that makes sense.

Correct. The 3000 doesn't come loaded with canned tunes like the 3015 does. The older model 3000 did.
