Wow...Since I am so new to the Mustang scene I didn't understand the snarky UPR comments. My dream build for the longest time was a bowtie not Ford oval. The new camaro shape just turned me cold, and our dealership picked up a terrific shipment of used mustangs. When I asked my builder about cost effective suspension adds he had good luck with, he liked UPR. I like to reward the company that innovates, but would be a liar if I said cost didn't matter....my car is a mutt brand wise...so I guess I fall in the middle somewhere. Hmmm

Just read up on this thread, interesting comments.

Part of my job is spending well over 50% of our company's capital budget every year. In my industry I see similar things, but it's not necessarily copy catting, just developing lower and lower cost methods of production. That's great and all, but long term you will tend to see who can actually lower their cost efficiently, but only to a point where quality is not impacted significantly.

So I guess what I'm saying here is, that in the long run, the companies that copy designs, manufacture for MUCH less than the market average, etc will likely not be around forever. If you're shopping in an industry where you want to build support and relationships with the merchants that can go a long way. There are plenty of times I pay more (personally and for work) to a merchant simply due to my history with them and knowing what I'm getting, so if there is an issue I have no doubt they will back up what they sell.

I always looked at UPR as the RC Cola of performance parts.

have any of those years been in innovation, or have they all been spent in replication?

there is a reason your company is known to Mustang enthusiasts as Unauthorized Product Reproduction.

Sorry fellows...didn't mean to stir the pot. Just trying to figure things out. The search function is great. I wish I hadn't found the god darn oil pump failure threads...cost me $500 (thanks JDM) :) I don't really need to replace the oil pump with my build, but it would drive me nuts if I didn't!
