I chauffered a hero veteran in San Diego's Veterans Day Parade today. It was gratifying, and very affecting, to see the thousands of people who lined the streets waving flags, shouting "THANK YOU" and applauding every veteran and veteran organization, as well as the veteran-support groups, the young-military marching elements, and school-military contingents.
Today they honored "Cold War" veterans. I heard one of the honorees tell a TV reporter who asked, "How does it feel to have a parade for you?" He said, "In all honesty, it's about time!"
There was a troop of "Buffalo Soldiers", one of Vietnamese veterans, others of Jewish war veterans, three hordes of motorcycle-riding veterans, one of Rebels, four of Homeless veterans, and many others. The most-applauded: Iraq and Afghanistan veterans.
Very affecting.
Thank you, all veterans. I appreciate your service.
