No shit. They were cheaper a few years back before they went to this MyPlates garbage.

You can either pay $200 for one year or $500 for 5 years for the multi alphanumeric plates. And that's all upfront cost.

And then you have the annual fees, which are higher than normal if you have vanity plates. They put it completely out of reach for a lot of folks. Texas sucks.
