I picked up a Boss 302 diff cover off a member on here. I was wondering if there is a specific breather for the cover or can I just run a fitting and some hose? The car is just a daily.

Can't just install a pipe plug being a daily?

I wouldn't do that. If it don't vent you're gonna get some leakage. Personally I would run a fitting to a small hose to a catch can.

Solid axle or IRS? Solid axle should have a vent on the axle housing and you really don't need to vent there also. Don't know about the IRS.

It's an SRA. It's in our 06. It does have the crappy vent on the axle. My understanding was this vent is better than the stock vent. As well as I wouldn't need to run that bulb that Ford has as "fix". And it looks better than the stock cover.

If your having a problem I would upgrade the axle tub vent. The cover has a lot of oil slinging around from the gears. Out on the axle tube the oil is already commend down. If you don't have a vent at all when the oil heats up from driving it builds pressure and will vent out the seals

I wouldn't say it's a problem. It's just the issue that's been known for a while. So there is some oil on the one axle tube. But the car also has about 90k on it.

And I have no intention of not running a vent at all. I would never do that.

The factory vent works fine in the Boss/GT500 axle cover for DD use and the cover is internally baffled to prevent oil sling from the gears getting past the factory vent. However, if you plan on autox or HPDE, I'd recommend a plain hose barb fitting and hose to a catch-can vent system.

Mine has been on for a few years now and I forgot that it's baffled.
