I believe the parts need to come off to do it right. You want to wrap a little vinyl over the edges to the back to make sure it doesn't peel up. My wrap arrived today so I now have a Sunday project!

I would not have guessed it would look that good, but it looks damm good. Do you think it will be fine with windows rolled up hot summer day? They put basically the same stuff on the hot metal hoods for stripes so it should right.

It holds down tight when you wrap it around an edge all the way. I live in Southern California and it is holding up fine....

You have to take the part your wrapping off and just make sure to clean the part before wrapping and wrap it around the edges and your good to go. A heat gun does wonders and YouTube is your friend!

I'd so love to try this but worried I'd screw things up with the adhesive promoter ruining the surface or the heat gun melting the part. My center console and steering wheel inserts are really starting to show some wear and tear from 8 years/114,000 miles.

It's pretty easy and fun. I didn't use any adhesion promotors and the heat gun is just lightly used to heat the vinyl to make it more pliable, really for small interior parts a hair dryer would probably work just as good. You don't need a lot of heat at all.

If your interested get a small roll on eBay and play with it on stuff you have laying around the shop. The roll I got was less than $10 and I did those parts I took pics of and still have a good size piece left.

There are TONS of YouTube videos of vinyl wrapping!! Doing the whole car looks a bit challenging but small parts are pretty simple.

Looked at some yesterday and you're right, does look fairly easy. I didn't realize that material was that pliable when heated. Vinyl has apparantly come a long way in the last few years.

I did this in my 2005 GT. I considered ding it in my 2013 GT, but its a base dash likemy 2005 was. The passenger side airbag will give me a fit because it one piece and the wrap does want to stay in the horizontal indention on the air bag cover. It work much better on a premium dash because it has panels versus a cover. At times I wish I could upgrade to a premium dash just because of that (and having the option to paint it).

And yes, when I did mine on my 2005 GT I removed all the pieces that would be covered (meaning having to pull the fuse for the airbags for safety). This way the edges can be tucked and heated behind the pieces for a clean look.

My covers on the steering wheel where scratched, so I did this today. This was my first time with vinyl. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1431914912.812929.jpg I think it turned out nice and is a great idea

Before I break my plastics... How does the steering wheel trim come off on the 2011-14 interior? I hate the silver trim on the steering wheel. Been wanting to do a gloss black or cf since I got it. Thanks guys.

Just ordered up my Dinoc yesterday. Going to do a few covers under the hood first for practice before I order another sheet and move to the interior.
