because the 2012 could be had at $80 Over invoice. I unofficially know what the 2013s base msrp is. Do you think dealers will sell it for $80 over invoice. Besides the gt500 mods very easily.

Just out of curiosity, what is the unofficial invoice on a '13? Love the black and while I agree it can be difficult to maintain sometimes, it is well worth it.

Rumor I heard was base MSRP was going to be $1 less than a base ZL1.

That makes sense. I would love to be able to afford one, but that wont happen as long as Im in the military. I really do dig your new GT500 though. Congrats!

Thats a good question. In my opinion I think the Koni yellows or Tokico-D specs would be, but Im not sure on the STR.Ts. Im rather new to this forum and not sure if Sam Strano is on here, but when I purchased my setup, he had all the specs for each Mustang and its suspension setups. He told me what the GT500 was, but I didnt pay much attention to it since I have a regular GT.

Mind asking how much you got the gt500 out the door? Im really thinking about trading my 5.0 in for a 2011 or 2012 gt500 also, after you mod the 5.0 so much, for a couple of thousand more you can get a gt500 and have the value of it to, thanks man

ya demodded it and traded it in.

Paid $45.9 for the GT500, x-plan. Base GT500 w/car cover was the only option.

Taxes, fee's etc were added on top. Had a good bit of equity in my 5.0 plus some down payment money so taxes would vary for you.

I went through the same thought process as you:

-2011-2012 Coyote: $30-35k new
-Built motor: $7000
-Supercharger: $5000-7000
-Tuning etc.

Coyote is still a helluva deal, I mean shit, mine went 11.6 NA, and 11.1 on the juice.

Makes sense. Given those numbers the only reason to get the coyote over the GT500 would be if a person can't afford to spend 45+ on the initial buy and wants to pay less at first and build it over time.

I told them it was tuned before, they didn't even blink. Mine also never had any issues though.

Totally agree with you, in my case this wasn't the circumstance. I bought the coyote, loved it, but wanted more and did not want to tear apart a beautiful car. Coyotes are also still new, I am betting we havent seen their full potential yet with advanced cam timing etc, that a lot of tuners are shying from.

That I am. There is actually an interesting story behind this purchase.
Back in 1968, 2 weeks before my grandfather turned 40, he walked into a dealership and had purchased a 1968 Shelby GT500 King of the Road.
Growing up, seeing that thing in the garage... well you can just guess what that does to someone. We had sold the car a few years after he died back in the early 2000s (car only had 3200 miles).
Now, a few weeks before my 30th, I guess I did the same.

Very Cool. Im guessing thats how you got into cars.

That does make sense, but runs contrary to you decision to lose the last one. The GTs mod great, too. At any rate, it's just my opinion. You have to do what feels right for you.

^ with that strategy no one would ever buy a new car as they would always be waiting for the new badass model...unless you were being sarcastic.
Not necessarily. You have to weigh what you want out of a car, vs how much it costs and how long you have to wait for it. The 2013 is a significant upgrade compared to the years 2007-2012. Personally, I would not want an aluminum engine (which IIRC, is new in the 2012, right?). There is some cool tech behind the new 5.4 aluminum block (like the spray-coated sleeves), but not enough for me to discount the strength of the iron block used in the older GT500s.

Starting with a 5.8L would be well worth the money for me, even if it is aluminum. That's not even considering the greater potential of the bigger engine and cost of getting the 5.4L to where the 5.8L starts at.
