Sure will. It'll probably be a few weeks. I have a lot coming up the next couple of weekends. The nice thing about it is that it's wipe on wipe off pretty much.

Well I played with the duragloss coating on my wife's windshield the application is stupid easy. It literally wipes on and dries off. It acts like IPA, car pro eraser, etc. Any left over residue just gets wiped off. I haven't been able to really try it out due to no rain but it beaded and sheeted decently with just spraying some water on it. I will say the applicators that come with the kit are horrible.

I'm not nearly as extravagant as you guys (yet) but I did do some more damage today:

Chemical Guys Concours Wheel and Rim Detailing Brush
Chemical Guys Hex-Logic Finishing Pad, Black (6.5 Inch)
Durafoam Contoured Large Tire Dressing Applicator Pad (now I will have 2)
Grit Guard Insert (now I will have 2)
and some arbitrary free applicator that I will use for interior dressing.

I totally picked the worst time of year to start a mobile detailing gig, winter is comming.

Also I am trying to figure out how to get attention. I did some facebook networking, I got like 2 guys in my area that I was supposed to do their cars before H2Oi (a huge import event) but they both flaked. Somehow there was something more important to an import owner then getting the car clean before an import show but whatever (both of them said their cars were filthy)

I also need to get an suv (will probably just snatch the wifes dodge journey for now), need to get a generator and a water source. (I had 3 customers basically go to hell on me because they would not come to my place, but they did not have power and spickett where they were)

what do some of you guys use for a water source? the place I worked at last summer had mobile units that had huge water tanks in the back, they seriously had to be over 100gal tanks. I don't think I will need all that. I am not getting a van unless I absolutely have to and I am pretty sure 100gal of water will crush a mid size suv.

Well a gallon of water weighs 8.34 pounds....I've seen many detailers either with a pickup and a reservoir that fits in the bed or some people have a small trailer. Just because you have a 100gal container doesn't mean you need to brim it to the top if weight is a concern...

Maybe incentivize your first few details and use them as references, get a webpage going or at least a yelp for yourself. What sort of equipment do you have for yourself and product? You'll need a solid amount it you want to make this anything more than a hobby.

I have started looking at things that I can get in 1gal and 5gal containers. Also trying to learn the market around myself. IMO there is no point in buying all the super expensive stuff if nobody is going to pay for it. Keep in mind also this is going to be a weekend gig, not my bread a butter.

If you know how much I was quoting people you would shit yourself. Its embarrassing know what other guys charge. Its like cover my products and then pull a shitty number out of my ass. I have had a few guys say no and then call me back a week later. I think I gave them the idea, then when they find out how much certain levels of details work cost, then they realize just how insane my quotes are.

I have kicked around the idea of putting a page together and getting business cards. I guess I should get on that next.

Yeah, most people just either are clueless, or just don't appreciate how much effort goes into an actual detail versus having someone who doesn't speak english lazily suck out the crumbs between their seats and calls it clean. Some products, especially cleaners and QD's can be cut and this can do wonders for you on making product last. Just make sure to cover your bases. Don't skimp so much to where you're using crap waxes and whatnot or else the longevity of the protection and detail goes down. There's a fine line to toe. Some of the more seasoned detailers can weigh in but I used to do the occasional detail and I'd offer different levels of waxes and sealants. Most would simply say, make my car look like your mustang and i'd oblige to use my nicer products...

The thing that killed me was San Antonio was in a major drought and I to document where I got my water from if I used a mobile tank. But the business model I was going for was all mobile with most of my business being done in company parking lots. Get your car done while at work. We have a lot of Tech savvy companies here in SA and most of those employees wouldn't mind paying the premium for a full onsite detail. I was also looking at PDR and windshield repair as well.

This is pretty much the plan I've had in my head for some time now. There are a crap load of medical buildings/Dr Offices and a hospital by me. Camping out in a parking lot rotating from one to another during the week has been a dream.
I just can't get over the hump of going part time to full time (going mobile). If I could do that....I'd be gone from Corp America....

Just placed an order for Synergy. Have always gone the carnuba route on the stang, but decided i'm going to coat her W/ CQuartzUK and Synergy. Having just finished UKing my new Explorer pushed me to do it. Amazing on darker color paints. Used it before on silver and was just ehh on the looks. Protection wise UK is top notch though. Now I need to start downsizing my the waxes that I have as there is no need anymore. I'm stoked can't wait!!
