Brenspeed still has their Vortech/Paxton kit on sale I believe.

If you're worried about finding a tuner...learn how to do it yourself.

The canned Vortech/Paxton tune is VERY conservative and safe- you'd be fine on it.

Go forced induction, the bolt ons just aren't worth the price to power ratio.

I havent talked myself into anything to even begin with. Im weighing options out. Im rather young i think
To go force induction. Im 19 and a college student. The vortech sounds good i kinda figured that i would maybe get away with that and not have to worry. Cheapest route would probably be nitrous but then again i believe thats alot harder on the engine. I know a guy local that can tune mustangs for nitrous . Thats also another option. Yes i know bottle fill up will kill me down the road but in the end i dont really think i fork out 4000$ on a supercharger all at once. Just considering everything.

The nitrous way would be good and much cheaper. I would be more worries about the engine with that over an sc though. You would save a ton of money and have the power there only when you need it. I was always worried about encounters that come about quickly, and that I couldn't get my dedicated nitrous tune loaded, or no time to heat up bottle enough, have to quickly rely on remote bottle opener to work, etc. I don't think nitrous is good enough for a quick interaction that comes about to race.

I'd say keep saving up until you have a good cushion to whatever you decide to do. Let's say you go the nitrous route, save up enough "just incase" you blow the motor afterwards.

+1 or better yet. Save up your money and purchase another vehicle for your DD. You don't want to learn the hard way that something happened to your car and it left you stranded.

But if you want FI be sure to stick with an OEM quality kit like the Roush, Edelbrock, Whipple/FRPP. and Saleen. These where all properly tested and use OEM quality parts. Each come with a good tune that you could have modified at a later date.

I was like you at 19 trying to save up enough for a supercharger for my 07 GT while in college, well I am 23 now and still do not have the supercharger because I did not want to modify my stang because it was my daily driver and the time. Now that its not, the modding will be (finally) this winter and it won't be boosted until 2013! Sometimes its best to wait and save up money because there's always a chance for failure.

Do not waste ANY money on NA. FI to 400whp and be done with it. You could go up to 450whp, but it would cost a little more.

While LT's sound awesome they are one of the worst hp/dollar ratio out there. The stock exhaust flows very well and its not the restriction until you are far beyond stock shortblock destroying levels.

I agree. There are many top-notch kits out there. No need to piecemeal things together anymore. Just like I had mentioned in my post earlier.

No tuners on Maui thats for sure. Am running a JDM tune they wrote for my mods. Did some dataloging and they said all is well.
At your age and prolly lack of income (school) I would make sure you have a cushion in case the shit does hit the fan.
