Meg's Quick Detailer is good, but not in the sun, and will streak, and a little harder to "buff out"

Turtle Wax Ice Synthetic is good, can put it on in the sun, and is "safe" for plastic parts as well, easy off, but seems a little "watered down".

Eagle One Mist and Wipe is one of the cheapest quick detailers I've found in stores, but also seems a little watered down. Streaks a little more and not as sun and plastic friendly as the Ice Synthetic.

I usually use the ICE since it is safe to use on plastic and rubber, and I have vinyl strips. The Ice Quick Spray Wax even says it safe to use on glass and will help bead water, but haven't tried it yet.

I have used several of the products mentioned. Meguairs streaks really bad in the sun. There spray wax does work better but not my favorite. Jax Wax used to be really good, there consistent quality became questionable. get a good batch the next was not as good. Wizards Mist and Shine is really nice stuff amazing shine. Go over it twice with the microfiber and its a deep streak free finish even in the sun. Just my observations. I have never tried any of the Zaino products.

I say go with Pinnacle XMT 360 Wax Spray.

Great shine, pleasant smell, and it lasts quite a while.

Also, Wolfgang makes some hella good stuff too.

just a quick question as far as quick detailers, my car is not daily driven, stays in the garage until the weekend. but in the garage it gathers quite a bit of dust and hair (two all white dogs that shed like crazy) and i dont wash the care anymore just do the quick detailer every week and am wondering if this is bad for the surface, i have noticed quite a bit of small surface scratches and am wondering if this is a product of me not washing the car before i wax it. is it bad just waxing and waxing and waxing with no washing???

What type of towel are you using? Cotton/terry cloth will scratch the surface. I only use thick microfiber towels that are plush enough to let dust sink into the towel and not get rubbed across the surface of the paint. I also use a cover in the garage, since it gets dusty, as you say. But yes, washing the car and letting the water wash away the dirt is better than rubbing it off.

Also, when using the quick detailer on a car that has been driven, start at the top, turn the towel often, and get the bottom of the car, especially the area behind the tires and the lower rear bumper, last. If you pick up the road grime/little chunks of concrete/asphault from behind the tires on the rag, you will scrape that grime all over the rest of the car since it is now stuck on the towel.

If it's just dust, it should not be scratching the car. But if you are driving it and then detailing it, there are pieces of rock/road on the car (though very small) that you must be careful getting off.

If you are using detailer and MF towels you should be using a few towels to do the job in order to prevent damage. You need to use the least amount of pressure possible, too. This will make a big difference.

I recently did an experiment where I only use detailer (quick wax) and MF's on my car for several weeks. It worked for awhile and with very good technique and mutliple towels, I was able to do it a few times without having issues. After awhile, however, the micro-scratching started showing up and I had to do a full detail.

I still use QW and lots of MF's when I'm out, it's better than a pay car wash, IMO. But if you have the option a PROPER wash is the better choice by far.

optimum instant detailer or spray wax, only one that does not streak on dark colors.

The UQW doesn't either, at all, even in the sun.

Are you talking about the Instant Detailer & Gloss enhancer?? Or the Opti-Clean??

instant detailer & gloss enhancer. most of the time i lightly run a duster on mine and lightly wipe down with a wet microfiber towel. thats when i pull it out of garage and when its going back in to be covered.

Well ive been using cotton towels when using a quick detailer which now explains all those damn micro-scratches, i have two really plush micro fiber towels but was only using those for the final wipe down of the entire car but now ill probably end up buying a couple more m-f towels and throwing in a good wash more often. thanks for the great info guys.

Yes, I used a cotton towel once on my car, the vinyl stripes still have the scratches on them. I have dozens of mf towels, I found some in a clearance store once, and picked up a whole package. Now they are all I use. And never wash the mf with cotton, it will pick up the lint off the cotton towels.

I never use quick detailer on dark cars anymore, even using a different brand new microfiber cloth for each panel it would leave scratches and swirls...

(my next car will be white)

what do you think of TW Ice wax ? I've used it on my wife's silver car, haven't yet on the black car. Still using the black detailer that came in the TW Black Box.
